Happy Small Business Week, Newfoundland and Labrador! 🧡

Behind every handmade piece in this province is a person with a skill, a story, and a whole lot of heart. Our crafters and makers are small business owners who turn their talent into livelihoods, and they’ve been shaping our culture, our communities, and our economy for generations.

Small businesses are the backbone of Newfoundland and Labrador. They’re our neighbours, our friends, and the folks who show up for their communities year after year. When you choose to shop local, your dollars stay right here at home. They support families, keep traditions alive, and help the next generation of makers get started.

So this holiday season, we’re asking you to give something made by hand, made here, and made with care.

Find your favourite makers at the Christmas Craft Fair, November 5-8 at the Jack Byrne Arena in Torbay, and explore handmade crafts from Newfoundland and Labrador.

Next week, we will welcome Susan and Jennifer's collaborative exhibition, 'Everyday Sacred', to the CCNL Gallery!

Award-winning artist, educator, and craft consultant, Susan Furneaux, and interdisciplinary artist, yoga teacher, and reiki practitioner, Jennifer Cake, both regularly create altars for their well-being, spirituality, and studio practices. Both artists are influenced by the natural world, both in materials and aesthetics and take their inspiration from the places around the province that are held precious in their consciousness.

Join us on Friday, October 30th from 5pm to 6:30pm to celebrate 'two artists who honour the Earth every day through their making and spirituality.'

IMPORTANT WARNING: Christmas Craft Fair Phishing Scams

With our Annual Christmas Craft Fair just two weeks away, increasingly sophisticated phishing scams continue to target our craft community.

Fraudulent vendor invitations are circulating through social media, email, and even targeting communications from trusted industry organizations. These scams are becoming incredibly convincing, making it more difficult than ever to distinguish legitimate communications from fraudulent ones.

Our 2026 Christmas Craft Fair is FULL. We are not accepting vendor applications or offering additional booth spaces.

Please be vigilant and question any communication soliciting vendor participation.

Unfortunately, this isn't isolated to the Craft Council. Market organizers and craftspeople across the country are facing similar challenges.

As we head into the busy holiday market season, please verify your sources, look out for one another, and help us spread the word.

Let's keep our craft community safe this craft fair season.
