Congratulations to our friends and colleagues at the Atlantic Salmon Federation for this well-deserved recognition of their work.
It is also a reminder that the work to protect wild Atlantic salmon and their habitat is an ongoing process that benefits from cooperation and help from all parties.
We are incredibly proud to be part of Parks Canada’s Respectful Returns: Restoring Resilience to Salmon Ecosystems, the first project in Canada and one of only two in North America to receive a United Nations World Restoration Flagship designation.
As a partner in this collaborative restoration effort, ASF was recently recognized by Parks Canada for our contribution to this internationally significant restoration initiative.
At a recognition event held at the Chéticamp Campground in Cape Breton Highlands National Park, Parks Canada also presented certificates to the UINR (Unama'ki Institute of Natural Resources), the Chéticamp River Salmon Association, and the Margaree Salmon Association .
Respectful Returns brings together Indigenous communities, Parks Canada, scientists, local organizations, and conservation partners in a long-term effort that began in 2010 to restore wild salmon populations and strengthen freshwater ecosystems across seven national parks in Atlantic and Pacific Canada.
We are proud to stand alongside such dedicated partners and to contribute to work receiving recognition on a global stage.
