Every Adventure has a Next Chapter!

For the past two years, Brian Chmarney has been the key Grants Administrator behind the scenes of the Framework in Action Grant, Parks for All Action Grant, and the School Playground Equipment Grant.

While we are sad to have Brian move on from his role at SPRA, we are excited to know that his skills and experience are transitioning into an incredible grant management opportunity.

Brian, we will miss the community-minded perspective that you’ve brought to this role, as well as your passion for giving back – and most certainly the monthly lunch club will miss your jokes and conversations. Wishing you all the best!

Keep recreating and we'll see you down the path, in the park or on the court sometime.

Come for the Ice Cream, Stay for Everything Else!🍦

Eston’s Place is showing what's possible in North Battleford. What started as an aging driving range is now a summer destination and host site for the 2026 Tony Cote Summer Games.

SPRA is saddened to learn of the passing of Louis Gardiner.

Louis served as a Director at Large on the SPRA Board of Directors from 1997 to 1999 and was a recreation practitioner for the community of Île-à-la-Crosse, the Beaver River Regional Recreation Association, and the Northern Recreation Coordinating Committee (NRCC). He will be remembered for his tireless advocacy for residential school survivors, Northern Saskatchewan, and for his belief in the important role that sport, culture and recreation play in building strong communities.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Louis’ family, friends and community.

Happy Parks Day!

Fresh air. Room to breathe. A reason to be outside. Some days are just better spent under an open sky, and today the whole country agrees. To celebrate Canada’s Parks Day, people from coast to coast to coast are heading out to their favourite parks, trails, and beaches to make the most of it.

So go find yours, and show us how you spend it, Saskatchewan.
