Youth advisors needed for research on supporting boys and men’s mental health
Sign up using the link in our linktree to join!

If you are a male-identifying youth you are invited to apply to join the advisory group. We are looking to understand how to empower all male-identifying youth to develop and seek services within HOMEBASE. Everyone is welcome to apply, no matter your background or identity.

You will receive a small financial contribution ($25/hour) for your time, as well as snacks (at in-person meetings).

For time commitments - we are hoping to start with a longer in-person meeting (~3 to 4 hours); then 2 hour weekly meetings (some in-person and some online) for about a month; transitioning to one-hour meetings every week until we are finished
The long meeting will have introductions of who everyone is, fun activities like games, and chatting about what we hope for the project
For the other meetings, we will have a goal in mind (e.g., what helps you stay calm; who do you go to when you feel upset; what gets in the way of talking to people about your emotions; etc.) and ask the youth reflection questions to help us build the project
We will also have the youth advisors engage in a walk to understand how the space helps or gets in the way of feeling comfortable and/or joining HOMEBASE programs
It would be possible for youth to miss some meetings, but hopefully they’d be able to attend the majority

We are hoping the youth can:
Reflect on their own experiences with mental health and knowing how to shift their emotions when they need or want to
Work in a team to develop questions to ask other youth
Tell us how they think we can make programs and services better - this will help us change what we do and how we do it
We are looking to hear from lots of different people with many different experiences, so there’s no need to have special skills or training or experiences
In the past, youth have been surprised by how much they can add after hearing and building off of other people’s experiences
We will also explain different ways of doing research to help youth understand better

Happy Pride Month!! 🌈

Pride is about celebration, but it’s also about community, belonging, and the long fight for people to be accepted as they are.

At HOMEBASE, we believe every young person deserves to feel safe, supported, and welcomed.

Happy Pride Month from HOMEBASE. 🧡

Today is Red Dress Day, a day to honour and remember Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ people.

The red dress has become a powerful symbol of lives taken, lives missing, and families still waiting for justice.

Today, we pause to remember, listen, and stand with Indigenous families and communities.

You can take part by wearing red, learning more about MMIWG2S+, sharing trusted resources, and making space for reflection.

We remember. We listen. We stand with families and communities.

Today we’re celebrating the women and girls who shape our communities every day. 💜

From mentors, caregivers, and leaders who support young people, to the young women who are learning, growing, and finding their voice — your strength, care, and ideas help move communities forward.

At HOMEBASE, we’re grateful for the women who continue to create space, inspire change, and support one another.

Happy International Women’s Day. 🌸

As February comes to an end, we want to remind everyone — Black history doesn’t end with it.

The learning doesn’t stop. The conversations don’t stop.

To Black communities across Canada and in Saskatchewan: your contributions, brilliance, and leadership are woven into the fabric of this country. You have shaped where we are — and continue to shape where we’re going.

Thank you for the impact you’ve had — and the impact you continue to make.

We’ll keep learning. We’ll keep listening. We’ll keep showing up.

🖤
