Nature Regina’s mission is to foster a greater appreciation of all aspects of the natural environment.

Pursuing this goal we engage our members, and the general public through lectures, field trips, education programs and environmental advocacy.

Last week the Get Outside! Preschool Club had a wonderful time hiking at the Wascana Habitat Conservation Area.

We collected and sorted nature items together for a scavenger hunt and we climbed in the Willow Tree nearby.

During our outdoor storytime we read ‘I’m afraid, said the leaf” and learned about all the ways nature and living things care for each other – and how we are nature too!

We explored our 5 senses and learned how this can help calm our bodies – for both adults and kids alike! We learned about how our sense of smell is heightened when we wet our noses with a bit of water. We found many different textures – soft, rough, smooth, and crunchy!

Both our Monday and Friday groups had beautiful fall weather! We can’t wait to get outside again in a couple of weeks!

🐦 Protect Our Feathered Friends: Stop Bird Window Collisions! 🪟✨

🍂 As autumn has arrived in Regina, millions of birds are migrating through our area. Sadly, millions of birds die every year from colliding with clear or reflective glass windows. The good news? You can save lives right in your own backyard!
While the weather is still mild, it’s the perfect time to install bird-friendly window tape or decals. Applying visual markers spaced 2 inches apart breaks up reflections and helps birds see windows as solid obstacles.

Today is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Join us in the Learning LAB and make a garden marker to honour the life of a child who attended or was lost to residential schools. Each heart represents the memory of a child, and the act of planting represents our commitment to finding our place in reconciliation. The seeds are from Nature Regina's Native Prairie Plant Garden.

🧡Today, September 30, 2026, on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Nature Regina honours the Indigenous peoples who have cared for and lived in harmony with these lands for generations.

To our Indigenous communities: we stand with you today and every day in grief, respect, and solidarity. We hold space for the survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never made it home, and acknowledge the ongoing impact of these truths on families and communities across Treaty 4 territory and beyond. 🌾

As an organization dedicated to nature and community, we recognize that true stewardship begins with listening, learning, and acknowledging the deep, sacred connection Indigenous peoples hold with the land, waters, and all living relatives.

Today the Get Outside! Kinder Club explored the Wascana Habitat Conservation Area - and wow do kids know how to explore!

We started with story time and “I’m Afraid Said the Leaf” and learned how animals and plants depend on and care for one another.

On our scavenger hunt we searched for things in nature – and we had a surprise visit from two muskrats swimming in the lake!

We wandered along the marsh trails, stopping to notice plants, bugs, sunshine and yes… we may have made a few new mosquito friends.

There’s nothing quite like learning about nature by being right in it, exploring, playing, and noticing together!

Our next Kinder Club is October 16th. Go to www.natureregina/events and select Oct. 16 to register.

The Kinder Club is a free outdoor program for children ages 4 to 6 (Kindergarden aged) and their caregiver(s).

🌿 What a wonderful day outside! 🌿

Our Get Outside! Preschool Club groups had a blast exploring A.E. Wilson Park on Friday! We collected nature treasures, created collaborative chalk art, and made the most of a beautiful day outdoors.

On our story walk, we learned about Two-Eyed Seeing and how we can come together to learn from and care for one another. We highly recommend checking out the book Walking Together!

Then it was time for some pond dipping! We discovered all kinds of critters living beneath the water - and a few of us even got a little wet! We also had geese flying overhead and several cormorants stop by for a visit.

And of course, no Preschool Club adventure is complete without some mud kitchen creations! We made plenty of birthday cakes, soups and stews to share.

It was a beautiful day to be outside, learning, playing and exploring together! 💚

🍂🌿 Let’s Get Outside! 🌿🍂

Our Get Outside! Kinder Group is back this fall, and we’re excited to get exploring!

Join us for our first event on September 28! This FREE outdoor program is for older preschool and kindergarten children ages 4–6, along with a parent/caregiver. Younger siblings are welcome to join in the fun, too!

We meet once a month in local green spaces to explore, play and learn together through nature with nature walks, scavenger hunts, nature games, and outdoor play!

On Monday our Get Outside! Preschool Club had a fantastic day exploring A.E. Wilson Park! There was so much to discover, from tiny pond creatures to big muddy adventures.

We created collaborative nature art, working together to make beautiful designs in a nature frame using items we found outside.

On our story walk, we read Walking Together and explored the idea of Two-Eyed Seeing - learning and walking together with each other, the animals and the natural world in a good way.

During our pond dipping activity, we searched the water and discovered water boatmen, backswimmers, a snail and lots of minnows. So many little creatures hiding beneath the surface!

And, of course, there was plenty of outdoor play - including some creative “baking” in our mud kitchen!
