🏠 Connecting with Community in Regina!

Cherysse and Mariesa represented the Elizabeth Fry Society of Saskatchewan (EFSK) at the Namerind PiT Count & Wellness Event at the mâmawêyatitân centre in Regina!

They spent the event connecting with community members, sharing information about our housing programs and support services, and helping people learn more about the resources available through EFSK.

Access to safe, stable housing is essential to individual and community well-being. Events like these help strengthen connections between organizations working to address homelessness, housing insecurity, and barriers to accessing support.

A big thank you to Namerind Housing Corporation for organizing this event and bringing our community together! 💜

It's been one week since Namerind hosted Regina's 2026 Homelessness Point-in-Time Count.

This year, over 200 volunteers joined us in performing the enumeration survey and engaging with those experiencing homelessness across our entire community. Thank you to those who participated - our Elders, community members far and wide, our sub-projects and partnering organizations, Police Chief Lorilee Davies, and City of Regina's very own Mayor Chad Bachynski! We are honoured to work with all of you, and look forward to sharing the report on our findings in the coming months.

Remind each other. That is our duty as Canadians, sharing land across a nation that must never forget why the 94 Calls to Action were created.

This year, at our conference, we had so many amazing speakers remind us - not only of the Calls, but the reason behind them and how many men, women, children and families still suffer from the histories we carry forward as Indigenous people.

Namerind stands to remember today, and will continue our work with community and partnerships so we may all work towards the same goals of reconciliation together.

Namerind joins Housing and Infrastructure Canada in Montreal today alongside our fellow housing organizations from across the nation, with Minister Gregor Robertson leading the discussion on the future of housing and homelessness policies and programs.

Chief Executive Officer Robert Byers urges the importance of Indigenous-led housing delivery, community-led solutions for homelessness and long-term, stable funding opportunities.

Namerind is committed to reconciliation through our relationships, and envisions a future of even stronger collaboration between the Canadian government and housing providers.

We look forward to working together towards new solutions and ones that speak to all of the people that we serve.
