Not all leadership starts in boardrooms.

Sometimes it starts in a community centre, with a group of young people who are learning to show up, speak up, and lead.

At House of Friendship, our Boys in Leadership program is helping youth build confidence, connection, and community...and making waves across Waterloo Region. Through initiatives like Youth Smile-Link, they’re not just participating, they’re creating change and belonging where it's need most.

We can’t wait to share their stories at this year’s Strawberry Social 💛

"I've been feeding people all my life. Thanks to House of Friendship, I am going to be feeding people for a long time to come."

Anna Mae Steinmann grew up in a close knit Amish community, where she was taught from a young age to share with those who have less.

Whether that meant hosting 25 people for Sunday lunch, cooking meals for the hungry men working on her family farm, putting together food hampers at House of Friendship, or serving on the House of Friendship Board, Anna Mae saw the impact that caring for the community made.

That's why she decided to leave a gift in her will to House of Friendship. So her impact can go beyond today, and instead leave a legacy of care and support.

We are incredibly grateful for our community coming together to raise $92,179 for our Neighbourhoods campaign. Even though we didn't meet our goal this year, we thank each and every one of you for showing up and caring for your neighbours in Waterloo Region.

We asked community members to share messages of hope and compassion to lift up those who are enduring a season of challenge. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement and for continuing to walk alongside those in need.

We thank you once again for helping us reach $92,179. This is truly making a difference.

If you didn't have a chance to donate during the campaign, there's still time to support families in need. Visit https://ow.ly/h6Az50Z5FKI to donate today.
