Come out Friday and watch the hockey action for free and maybe even meet some of the NHL Alumni and Women Pros.

This Wednesday, October 21, Ontario will recognize Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day.

Meaningful appreciation must extend beyond saying thank you. Early childhood educators and child care workers deserve fair wages, respect and working conditions that reflect the value, expertise and responsibility of their work.

To every ECE and child care professional across YWCA Kitchener-Waterloo and our wider community: your care, dedication and impact matter. 🌈

Everyone deserves to live free from violence. 💜 From October 19–23, YWCAs across Canada and around the world recognize Week Without Violence—a global campaign dedicated to raising awareness and inspiring action to end violence against women, girls and gender-diverse people.

At YWCA Kitchener-Waterloo, this work continues throughout the year. We support survivors, challenge the systems and attitudes that allow gender-based violence to persist, and advocate for communities where safety, dignity and justice are rights for everyone.

Help us keep those in-need warm from the cold by gathering NEW adult winter gloves for our Drop the Gloves program. All donated gloves will go to our 6 partner charities. If you want to get involved, let us know!

At our tournament on Friday, October 30th from 8:00AM to 4:30PM at RIM Park, we will have an area dedicated for the winter glove collection.

🏠 A safe place to call home supports mental health. Today, on World Homeless Day and World Mental Health Day, we recognize the deep connection between housing stability and mental well-being.

People experiencing homelessness often face significant barriers to mental health care, while housing insecurity, poverty, violence and isolation can further affect a person’s well-being.

At YWCA Kitchener-Waterloo, we continue to advocate for safe, affordable housing, trauma-informed support and communities where everyone can feel safe, supported and able to move forward.

Everyone deserves a safe place to call home—and the support they need to thrive. 💙
