The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo & Stratford Perth has been serving the community since 1927. The humane society is self-funded and self-governed.

In 2012, the Kitchener Waterloo Humane Society and the Stratford SPCA combined under one organization and board of directors to create KWSPHS. The Kitchener Waterloo Humane Society and Stratford Perth Humane Society have long standing histories of serving people and pets in their communities. In 2012, the two organizations joined to become one of Ontario's largest animal welfare charities. Today, they are known as The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth, which operate animal centres in Kitchener and Stratford. Together, they service the areas of Kitchener, Waterloo, Wilmot, Woolwich, Wellesley, Stratford and Perth County. The humane society also helps animals outside of these areas, as time and resources allow. Outside of contracts for animal services, they receive no government funding. Instead, they rely on the generosity of donors to help animals within their communities and to provide animal welfare focused education and outreach. MISSION

Important KW Centre Closure

We're excited to share that construction of our new Community Outreach Centre is reaching another major milestone as crews prepare to pour the building's foundation.

To allow for the safe pouring of the foundation our KW Centre will be:
Closed to the public on Wednesday, November 4.

This work will involve multiple concrete trucks, large equipment, and significant construction activity throughout the day to complete the work. For the safety of our clients, visitors, staff, volunteers, and construction crews, we have made the decision to temporarily close the Centre while this important work takes place.

We understand this may cause inconvenience, and we sincerely apologize for the disruption. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to create a space that will expand support for pets and people across our community.

The plan is to reopen:
Thursday, November 5, and resume regular operations and hours.

PLEASE NOTE: Adoption applications can still be submitted and will be processed online during the closure.

Thank you for supporting us through this exciting period of growth!

Meet Dust!

Born in our care nearly two months ago, Dust has been growing like a w**d and discovering all the fun life has to offer. He's still a tiny guy, but don't let his size fool you! He loves showing off his zoomies and exploring his surroundings.

Dust is still learning that people can be pretty great, so he'll need a patient adopter willing to spend time socializing with him and helping him build confidence. With a little love and dedication, he has the potential to blossom into a sweet, affectionate companion.

Dust is still too young to be neutered, so this will be the responsibility of his future adopter once he's old enough, in consultation with their veterinarian. His gender also cannot yet be guaranteed.

Think you could give this little guy the care, enrichment, and love he needs to thrive?

Dust is currently in foster care, so please contact our Stratford Centre to arrange a meet-and-greet or visit kwsphumane.ca/adopt/small-animals

Just a friendly reminder, if an animal is no longer listed on our website, they have either been adopted or have a meet & greet booked.

Meet Kramer!

This sweet boy has officially decided that indoor life is the life for him! After being found wandering the streets, Kramer is ready to trade outdoor adventures for cozy naps, full food bowls, and a loving home to call his own.

He may be a little shy for a moment, but it doesn't take long for his sweet personality to shine. Give him a little attention and some pets, and he'll be purring up a storm and showing off his happy feet!

Kramer is ready to be someone's newest family member. Could that someone be you?

Just a friendly reminder, if an animal is no longer listed on our website, they have either been adopted or have a meet & greet booked.

Circe is still waiting for her happily-ever-after!

This sweet, gentle girl may take a little time to reveal her magic, but she’s worth the wait. 💜 Circe is shy and needs a calm, patient home where she can settle in at her own pace and build confidence without pressure.

She’d do best with adults or older children who understand that trust takes time. Once Circe feels safe, her sweet personality begins to shine through, and she’ll have the chance to show just how special she is.

Could you be the one to help this little Greek goddess come out of her shell? Circe is still looking for a home where she can feel safe, loved, and cherished.

Circe is currently in foster care, so please contact our Kitchener Centre to arrange a meet-and-greet or visit kwsphumane.ca/adopt/cats

Just a friendly reminder, if an animal is no longer listed on our website, they have either been adopted or have a meet & greet booked.

Meet Goomba!

This lovable guy is ready to level up from shelter life to his forever home! Goomba is a friendly, affectionate boy who loves meeting new people, soaking up scratches, chasing balls, and, of course, snacking.

At 77 lbs., Goomba is a big guy with a big personality! He’s looking for an active family who can keep him busy with plenty of exercise, enrichment, and consistent training. He can be a little bouncy and vocal, so a house or townhouse without shared walls is the ideal setting for this enthusiastic sidekick.

Goomba may be compatible with other dogs and cats with proper introductions, and older children with large-dog experience could be a good fit.

Ready to give this lovable Goomba his happily-ever-after?
