Heart for Africa Canada

Heart for Africa Canada Official Heart for Africa (Canada) page. Fighting Hunger, Caring for Orphans, Decreasing Poverty & Providing Education in Eswatini, Africa. 🌍

Our programs are designed to address these four key areas with solutions to alleviate hunger, rescue and care for orphans, fight poverty with employment and provide education to children and adults through school and vocational training. Since its inception, Heart for Africa (Canada) has worked to steadily address each of these four key objectives, launching programs and developing resources desig

ned to tackle each area. And while the problems loom large, there have been notable successes. In March 2012, the first abandoned baby arrived at “Project Canaan”, the 1,000 hectare farm where Heart for Africa (Canada) homes for children and other programs are located. It has grown tremendously, adding more homes for children and training and employment programs for men and women from surrounding communities that include Project Canaan Farm, Khutsala Artisans, Lusito Mechanic Shop, and the Kufundza Center. Today, 330+ children under the age of 11 call Project Canaan home. Heart for Africa (Canada) has made a solemn promise to care for them until they complete their High School education. 440+ men and women work on Project Canaan Farm, Project Canaan Children's Campus and with Khutsala Artisans. With you, we can extend HOPE to the furthest reaches of Eswatini. In this country, where food, water, medicine and employment are scarce, you can join us in ensuring that HOPE is abundant.

Today is a very special day at Project Canaan as Heart for Africa celebrates 20 years of ministry, impact, and hope. As we mark this milestone, we want to recognise and celebrate two Canadians whose vision and faith have transformed countless lives in Eswatini and beyond.

Twenty years ago, Ian and Janine Maxwell stepped out in faith and founded Heart for Africa (Canada) with a desire to serve vulnerable children and communities. What started as a calling has grown into a thriving ministry that continues to provide hope, education, healthcare, food security, and opportunity for thousands.

Their journey has been one of sacrifice, perseverance, and unwavering trust in God's plan. Because of their leadership and commitment, generations of children have been given the chance to dream, grow, and thrive.

Today, we celebrate not only the work of Heart for Africa (Canada) but also the two people whose faithful "yes" helped make it all possible.

Ian and Janine, thank you for 20 years of service, compassion, and dedication. Canada is proud of you, and we are grateful to stand alongside you in this mission.

Join us in thanking Ian and Janine for their 20 years of service and for the incredible legacy they continue to build. ❤️

Some of the children at Project Canaan have faced challenges doctors thought they might never overcome. Many of you have followed the journeys of Nokuphiwa as well as Jude. Both of these children faced incredible health challenges.

Today, they are walking, thriving, worshipping, learning, and growing stronger every day. We were reminded of how God can redeem anything as we witnessed both of these miracles leading worship together at church on Project Canaan recently. ♥️

We celebrate stories of healing, resilience, and hope that continue to unfold across our campus. These moments are reminders that love, stability, medical care, and faith-filled community can truly change lives.

Thank you for being part of the story.

One of the things we love most about learning at Project Canaan Academy is finding ways to make lessons come to life. As part of their Healthy Eating theme, our Grade 3 learners spent time in the classroom making their own fruit salad. They explored different fruits, practiced following instructions, took turns helping one another, and worked together to create a healthy snack they could all enjoy.

The excitement on their faces as they prepared and tasted the fruit salad was such a joy to see. Activities like these help reinforce important lessons while building confidence, teamwork, and healthy habits that will serve them well for years to come.

It was a fun afternoon of learning, laughter, and of course, plenty of delicious fruit! 🍎🍌🍊🍉

At Heart for Africa (Canada), growth isn’t about numbers. It’s about never having to say “no” to a child in need.

As we plan for the future of Project Canaan, every home, classroom, and child sponsorship represents something bigger: the ability to welcome more children into safety, healing, and family.

This is what vision looks like.

Our Project Canaan team shared exciting updates last week about continued improvements across campus from sports facilities and gathering spaces to nutrition enhancements for our children.

One of our favorite updates? Friday night “braais” are BACK ON THE MENU for the children and staff! 🍽️🔥

Thank you for helping make these moments possible and for helping put these amazing smiles on our kids' faces! 🍗😋

It’s hard to believe Avery Funston has already been part of the Heart for Africa (Canada) team for one month!

In just a few short weeks, Avery has jumped in wholeheartedly learning, connecting, and helping us continue growing the Canadian side of the ministry. From supporting preparations for our upcoming golf tournament to getting ready for her first trip to Project Canaan in just a few days, she’s already making an incredible impact.

When asked about her first month, Avery shared:

“I’ve never worked with a friendlier or more helpful team. Everyone has been so kind and welcoming, and I’m excited to continue learning and growing while making a lasting impact.”

We are so grateful to have Avery alongside Jocie as our Canada team continues to grow, doubling in size and expanding our reach across the country! 🇨🇦❤️
