Our programs are designed to address these four key areas with solutions to alleviate hunger, rescue and care for orphans, fight poverty with employment and provide education to children and adults through school and vocational training. Since its inception, Heart for Africa (Canada) has worked to steadily address each of these four key objectives, launching programs and developing resources designed to tackle each area. And while the problems loom large, there have been notable successes. In March 2012, the first abandoned baby arrived at “Project Canaan”, the 1,000 hectare farm where Heart for Africa (Canada) homes for children and other programs are located. It has grown tremendously, adding more homes for children and training and employment programs for men and women from surrounding communities that include Project Canaan Farm, Khutsala Artisans, Lusito Mechanic Shop, and the Kufundza Center. Today, 330+ children under the age of 11 call Project Canaan home. Heart for Africa (Canada) has made a solemn promise to care for them until they complete their High School education. 440+ men and women work on Project Canaan Farm, Project Canaan Children's Campus and with Khutsala Artisans. With you, we can extend HOPE to the furthest reaches of Eswatini. In this country, where food, water, medicine and employment are scarce, you can join us in ensuring that HOPE is abundant.

What happens when eight students from Eswatini travel to the United States for an educational adventure? A whole lot of learning, laughter, new friendships, and a few surprises along the way! ❤️

Janine's latest blog, "A Whirlwind Month," takes us behind the scenes of an incredible October spent visiting partner schools in Georgia and California with our Seeds of HOPE students. From recording their own music and experiencing American school traditions to building meaningful relationships with host families, the students had opportunities they'll remember for years to come.

But it's the personal reflections that really make this story special. Janine shares thoughts from a student, a teacher, and a host family, offering a glimpse into how this experience touched people on both sides of the journey. "Their past is part of their story, but it does not have to define their future." ❤️

These powerful words from Khosie Mamba, Senior Manager of our Children's Campus, capture something deeply important about growing up at Project Canaan.

In 2026, 41 children turned 12, reaching a meaningful milestone in their personal development. At this age, each child is gently guided through learning their personal history, including the circumstances that brought them into our care.

Understanding their past isn't always easy. But with love, patience, and support, these conversations help children develop a stronger sense of identity, confidence, and belonging. Our hope is that every child grows up knowing that while their past is part of who they are, it does not have to determine who they become.

Thank you for helping create an environment where children are loved, supported, and encouraged to look toward their futures with hope.

During a recent family visit to Project Canaan, one family member noticed something before even entering the Children's Campus: the security measures in place to protect the children.

Visitors couldn't simply drive through the gates. They had to be verified by security and wait for someone to accompany them onto the campus.

For this family member, those steps meant something deeply personal. He expressed how grateful he was to know that the child he had come to visit was growing up in a safe, protected environment.

At Project Canaan, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, loved, and secure. And when family members come to visit, they get to see that commitment firsthand.

Our team continues working to locate and reconnect children with their families whenever possible. These connections help children understand their personal stories and strengthen their sense of identity and belonging.

The impact of loving care reaches beyond the children at Project Canaan. It also brings reassurance to the families who love them.

This year, 129 home transitions took place across the Children's Campus at Project Canaan, marking new chapters in the lives of the children in our care. 129 home transitions in 2026. That's a lot of growing up! ❤️

Each move tells a story of growth. A baby becoming a toddler. A young child gaining independence. An older child stepping into a new season of life. These are the milestones that remind us why consistent, loving care matters so much.

And thanks to the generosity of supporters, we're able to celebrate these moments and continue providing a place where children can grow, learn and thrive.

Sometimes the most meaningful moments of serving happen in the simplest ways. ❤️

Canadian volunteer Jeni Lynn Robinson-Hudson has been spending time at Project Canaan, and her days have been filled with learning, laughter, creativity and lots of little ones!

From helping with baby pickups to reading with Grade 1 students and assessing their reading levels, Jeni has been finding ways to support our children at every stage.

She's helped Kindergarten students with math, encouraged Grade 8 students who need a little extra reassurance with their schoolwork, and even taught Grade 7 girls how to hand-knit blankets!

And then there are the moments in between. Crafts, puzzles during free time, and special birthday dinners out with some of our boys. The kind of everyday experiences that build relationships and create lasting memories.

Jeni shared something beautiful about her time at Project Canaan:

"I love serving at Project Canaan because of the love and joy these children bring to everyone around them. The greatest blessing is realizing that while I’m there to make a difference in their lives, they make an even greater difference in mine." ❤️

We're so grateful for Jeni and the many ways she's investing in our children, not just through the things she does, but through the time, encouragement and love she shares along the way.

Spend your summer serving, growing and gaining hands-on experience in Eswatini. 🇸🇿

Applications are now open for the 2027 Project Canaan Internship Program! This immersive summer program is designed for young adults who want to grow personally, professionally and spiritually while serving alongside our team at Project Canaan.

📅 May 30 – July 19, 2027
🇸🇿 Live and serve at Project Canaan in Eswatini
🙌 Hands-on experience in areas such as education, agriculture, hospitality and spiritual life
🌍 Cross-cultural experience and community-building activities
❤️ Opportunities to serve and build relationships with the children of Project Canaan
🌱 Focus on spiritual development, leadership and career growth
👥 Limited to 12 interns

Interns are assigned to a specific area with tailored responsibilities while also having opportunities to contribute to other projects across Project Canaan. The summer includes structured work, ministry, Bible study, field trips, community-building and intentional time for rest.

Applicants must be 18+ and currently enrolled in a collegiate-level educational program or have completed one no earlier than May 2027. Additional eligibility requirements apply.
