Our programs are designed to address these four key areas with solutions to alleviate hunger, rescue and care for orphans, fight poverty with employment and provide education to children and adults through school and vocational training. Since its inception, Heart for Africa (Canada) has worked to steadily address each of these four key objectives, launching programs and developing resources desig

ned to tackle each area. And while the problems loom large, there have been notable successes. In March 2012, the first abandoned baby arrived at “Project Canaan”, the 1,000 hectare farm where Heart for Africa (Canada) homes for children and other programs are located. It has grown tremendously, adding more homes for children and training and employment programs for men and women from surrounding communities that include Project Canaan Farm, Khutsala Artisans, Lusito Mechanic Shop, and the Kufundza Center. Today, 330+ children under the age of 11 call Project Canaan home. Heart for Africa (Canada) has made a solemn promise to care for them until they complete their High School education. 440+ men and women work on Project Canaan Farm, Project Canaan Children's Campus and with Khutsala Artisans. With you, we can extend HOPE to the furthest reaches of Eswatini. In this country, where food, water, medicine and employment are scarce, you can join us in ensuring that HOPE is abundant.

What does an ordinary school day look like for a Grade 8 learner at Project Canaan Academy?

Today, Anna is taking us along with her. ❤️

From morning lessons and time with classmates to reading, writing and exploring new ideas, this Reel offers a glimpse into Anna’s daily life at PCA.

Today is also International Literacy Day! Literacy gives students the tools to understand new concepts, communicate their ideas, ask thoughtful questions and continue discovering the world around them.

For Anna and her classmates, these skills are being strengthened throughout the day, across subjects and through countless everyday moments.

Sometimes, believing in a child means seeing beyond who they are today to who they can become.

At the beginning of this school year, Grade 6 student Thuli was struggling. She was getting into trouble at school and needed consistent guidance and correction.

But her teachers at Project Canaan Academy didn't give up on her.

They continued to meet Thuli with love, patience, encouragement and accountability. And little by little, something began to change.

Thuli made the decision to make different choices. She focused more on her schoolwork. She listened more closely to her teachers. And she began becoming a leader among her classmates.

Today, Thuli is one of PCA's prefects. She has earned 100% in Life Skills twice in a row and was one of only eight learners in her class selected to represent PCA in an external benchmarking test.

But perhaps the transformation we're most proud of is the one Thuli sees in herself.

"I am grateful that I made the decision to make the right choices and work harder, because becoming one of PCA's prefects was not something I thought I could manage."

Now, she wants to use that position to show kindness and encourage other students to make good choices and work hard, too.

What a difference it can make when someone sees our potential, especially during the moments when we might not see it ourselves.

Thuli's story is still being written, and we are so proud of the young woman she is becoming. ❤️

September 5 is the International Day of Charity, a day that celebrates the power of generosity to change lives and strengthen communities around the world.

At Heart for Africa (Canada), we see what that generosity can make possible every day.

It looks like a child sitting down to a nourishing meal. A student walking into a classroom ready to learn. A family strengthened through meaningful employment. A child receiving the love, care, and opportunity they need to thrive.

For 20 years, people have chosen to give, pray, volunteer, partner, and stand alongside this mission. Each act of generosity has become part of something much bigger: bringing HOPE to the people of Eswatini through Hunger, Orphans, Poverty, and Education.

On International Day of Charity, we simply want to say thank you.

Thank you for believing that generosity matters. Thank you for caring about people thousands of miles away. And thank you for helping turn compassion into lasting impact.

As we get ready for our Swing for HOPE Golf Tournament, we’re incredibly grateful to recognize the Hudson Family as an Impact Sponsor of this year’s event.

School may be on break, but our kids are still finding plenty of ways to put their minds to work! ♟️ Last week, 46 of our children took part in a Chess Knockout Competition at Project Canaan. Organized by age and gender, the competition gave our Activities team an opportunity to see how the kids are developing their chess skills and whether they may be ready to compete in external competitions in the future.

Beyond the competition itself, we love seeing our kids learning to think ahead, solve problems, practice patience, and challenge one another in a fun way. And the competition isn't over yet! Finals will be held before the school break comes to an end.

For now, congratulations to all 46 of our young chess players for stepping up to the board! ♟️👏

We’re giving you ONE more day to join us! ⛳

Registration for the Swing for HOPE Golf Tournament has officially been extended, but only until tomorrow night, September 1.

If you were hoping to join us but missed the original deadline, this is your opportunity. We would LOVE to have 5 more teams - this will get us to our goal of 72 golfers for this event!

On Sunday, September 13, we’ll gather at Grey Silo Golf Course for an afternoon of golf, great company, dinner and, most importantly, an opportunity to make an impact for the children and families we serve in Eswatini.

There’s still time to grab your spot, gather your foursome and Swing for HOPE with us.

What do you want to be when you grow up? 💭 For 18 of our Grade 8 students at Project Canaan, that question is becoming a little easier to answer!

During their term break, the students are participating in a three-week internship program right here on Project Canaan. Each week, they get hands-on experience alongside our teams in areas like Electrical, Maintenance, Khutsala Artisans, and IT, learning practical skills and discovering new interests along the way. 🛠️💻

And they are loving it!

This program is an opportunity for our kids to explore their potential, build confidence and responsibility, and begin imagining what their own futures could look like.

We’re so grateful for the Project Canaan team members who are taking the time to teach, encourage, and invest in the next generation. 💛

Who knows? We may be watching a future electrician, artisan, technician, or IT professional discover their passion for the very first time.

What if the future of farming at Project Canaan isn't only about what we can grow ourselves? It's a question worth asking as we continue thinking about what long-term sustainability could look like at Project Canaan.

What if, one day, local farmers could grow crops and Project Canaan could help process those harvests using infrastructure already in place?

Instead of only asking, "How much more can we grow?" what if we also asked, "How can what we've already built help more people grow?"

Ideas like this are part of how we think about the future. For us, sustainability isn't about one project, one crop, or one solution. It's about continuing to look for ways to steward what we have wisely, create opportunity, strengthen communities, and build solutions that can last.

Building a more sustainable future begins with simply asking: What if?
