June marks the beginning of Pride Season.

Even as we celebrate joy, love, and resilience, we recognize that 2SLGBTQI+ communities still face discrimination and inequities that must be addressed.

2SLGBTQI+ people are also disproportionately affected by mental health challenges.

United Way Waterloo Region supports initiatives that foster inclusion, reduce barriers, and strengthen community supports. We envision a country where everyone can live authentically and without fear.

Yesterday’s Menstrual Hygiene Day event was a powerful reminder of what community can accomplish together.

With more than 30 people in attendance, we collected 255 packages of menstrual hygiene products to support the Period Equity Project - Kitchener/ Waterloo/ Cambridge, Cambridge Food Bank, and The Food Bank of Waterloo Region.

Thank you to our incredible speakers, committee members, donors, and community partners for helping make this event such a success.

Locally, Period Promise is a partnership between United Way Waterloo Region and the Waterloo Regional Labour Council, working to reduce period poverty in our community.

Yesterday, we were proud to partner with KPMG Canada at Crow Shield Lodge’s community garden for a day of connection, collaboration, and giving back.

Together, volunteers planted, prepared, and helped build a garden space that will continue to support the community in the months ahead. Beyond the hands-on work, the day was also an opportunity to learn more about Indigenous perspectives on land stewardship, community, and caring for the earth in a respectful and reciprocal way.

Partnerships like this show the power of organizations coming together — not only through financial support, but also through people giving their time, energy, and care to create meaningful impact alongside one another.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered and helped make this day such a success!

Thank you to our partners at Langs and The Cambridge Food Bank for hosting the Securian Canada team for a wonderful Day of Caring in April!

Through hands-on volunteer experiences, the team had the opportunity to see firsthand the impact of the United Way network of services and the importance of working together to build a stronger Waterloo Region for all.

A big thank you to the Securian team for bringing so much energy, hard work, and laughter to the day, and for their genuine commitment to learning more about how they can support our community.
