We're so that Waterloo Region Community Foundation and their fundholders are helping kids get back to being kids! Journeying through the criminal justice system is a very challenging experience for local young victims, who've already been through so much. But the good news is our trauma-informed supports help them discover healing, wellbeing, and new reasons to smile. ! 😃🩵

On this , we're celebrating the 3 amazing facility dogs on our team! 🐕🐾🎉

Baker, Brady, and Monet have provided matchless for hundreds of young victims of crime and their families – from the time of a criminal investigation through to a court conclusion.

While Baker and Brady are both in their first year on our team, they couldn't have asked for a greater than Monet, who is scheduled to retire this fall after serving over 6 years.

🎁 Become Baker's sponsor today! It'd make him one happy dog, while making a huge impact for local kids. Other benefits included too! https://childwitness.com/baker-sponsorship/

On this National Nonprofit Day, we celebrate the tremendous impact nonprofits like ours have on our communities! 🩵

Today is a day to recognize those serving tirelessly in the trenches — impacting countless lives as positive change-makers and creating a collective safety net for those in critical need of a helping hand. ❤️‍🩹

It’s also an opportunity to recognize the big economic benefit nonprofits provide. When the most vulnerable can move forward with wellbeing and avoid potential pitfalls, our entire society becomes stronger. 💪

🌊 A little reminder as the weekend arrives.

You don’t have to use every moment productively.

Take a breath.
Slow down.
Let yourself be present for a moment.

Maybe it’s a quiet walk near water, a cup of coffee, time outside, a conversation with someone you love – or simply a few minutes with nothing you need to accomplish.

Give yourself permission to pause.

The weekend doesn’t have to be full. Sometimes, a little space is exactly what we need.

💙 Wishing you a peaceful weekend.

💙 Happy International Youth Day!

Today, we celebrate young people and the many different experiences, perspectives, strengths and dreams they bring to our communities.

At Child Witness Centre, we know that every young person deserves to feel safe, heard, supported and empowered to move forward. When children and youth are given the right support, they can build resilience, recognize their strengths and see possibilities for their future.

Every day we celebrate the young people in our communities, and the families, educators, volunteers and community partners who help create opportunities for them to thrive.

🌟 Your voice matters. Your experiences matter. Your future matters. YOU matter. 💙

We know... we're a little early, but we just can't wait any longer to kickstart this party! 🧁🥳

Why not take this advanced notice to start following Baker's Instagram account ( 🐕📲). Or even better, consider giving him the greatest birthday gift he could ask for... becoming his sponsor for one year! There are significant perks! ✨

We're so grateful for our newest accredited justice facility dog and his superpower of cuddles. For young victims of abuse and crime, when trust has been broken and anxiety is running high, their healing often begins with the support of a four-legged ally. And frankly, Baker simply makes life better for us all. ❤️‍🩹🐾

On this World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, some members of our team are wearing blue ribbons in support of awareness, prevention, and support for survivors. ❤️‍🩹

Human trafficking is often described as a modern-day form of slavery. Often done for profit, it involves the control and coercive influence over a person to exploit them - typically through sexual exploitation or forced labour. 💔

Human trafficking is unfortunately happening here in our communities. Thousands of incidents have been reported to police in Canada in the past decade. And the vast majority of victims are women and girls. 😢

📱 If you think someone might be a victim, contact the Canadian Human Trafficking Hotline (1-833-900-1010) or police. You can also learn more about this important issue through Not In My City's online resources.

🩵 We would like to thank Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis for the blue ribbons.
