LakeCity Works We offer a variety of programs and services tailored to assist people living with mental illness.

LakeCity Works supports people living with mental illness to build on their strengths, take on responsibilities and access work experience, education and employment. Our belief that employment represents a crucial step in the recovery process for the individuals we serve frames our comprehensive support-based platform. Over the years, our organization has seen continuous evolution, evolving from LakeCity Industries in 1982 to LakeCity Employment Services Association in 1986 and, most recently, to LakeCity Works in 2018. Today, we are an award-winning social enterprise managing multiple innovative ventures to benefit our community and environment. At every turn, we have been leaders and innovators in the field of mental health – supporting individuals living with mental illness wherever they may be in their recovery process.

What an accomplishment...and a fitting acknowledgment for an amazing athlete! Congratulation, Julie.

Congratulations to Julie Stanhope of Special Olympics Halifax, who will be inducted into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame on November 7!

Julie is one of the most decorated figure skating athletes in Special Olympics, with an incredible career spanning decades. She is a four-time Special Olympics World Games gold medalist, earning her first medal back in 1989, and a five-time Special Olympics Canada National Champion!

This is a historic milestone, as Julie will become the first female Special Olympics athlete to receive this honour! What an incredible achievement and a meaningful moment for Special Olympics Nova Scotia.

Congratulations, Julie! Your achievements continue to inspire the Special Olympics community and beyond.
