FBA is thrilled to unveil the theme for this year's Peter Wilson Dinner: Legacy In Bloom 🌸🪻

This year's theme is inspired by our honourees, the Tregunno family of Halifax Seed Company, as we celebrate and reflect on the legacy of their family enterprise that has been blooming for 160 years.

Through loss, growth, and renewal, generations of the Tregunno family have continued to step forward, carrying not just the business, but the values behind it. Today, fourth-generation leaders Emily and Ali Tregunno continue that tradition, proving that their story is still being written.

Behind every seed is a new beginning.
Behind every family business is a legacy worth sharing.
And behind Halifax Seed is a story that reminds us all that growth takes time, care, and people who believe in what they’re building.

We'd like to give a warm welcome to one of our newest FBA members, JB Insulators!

Founded by husband-and-wife team John and Jillian Bray, JB Insulators began when John, between roles, seized an opportunity in the emerging mechanical insulation industry, while Jillian managed the books part-time as they raised their four children. The business steadily grew, ultimately welcoming their eldest son into the company full-time, where he went on to earn his Red Seal journeyperson designation.

Today, JB Insulators employs a team of ten apprentices and journeypersons alongside family members. The company specializes in pipe and duct insulation, tanks, fire wrap, and sound barriers across multi-residential, commercial, and industrial projects throughout HRM and Nova Scotia.

This past Thursday brought our 4th annual Sail Away with FBA to life, and what an incredible evening it was - an amazing turnout and absolutely stunning weather to match! It was truly heartwarming to see so many familiar faces alongside new ones, all coming together under the family business community banner.

What an afternoon! 🎉 The energy in the room last week at our 2026 Family Business Awards of Excellence - Founders of Today, Foundations for Tomorrow - was absolutely electric, and we are still riding that wave!
