The next Helen Creighton Folk Club will be held on Thursday, July 2nd at 7:00pm featuring Trinity Station with special guest Amy Lou Keeler! Presented by the Helen Creighton Folklore Society and Big Turnip Records.
Trinity Station, featuring long time musicians Amy Elizabeth (Waltz) and Shaun Weadick, is best described as transatlantic mountain music. Pulling from 70βs British Revival Folk, Appalachian trad and Gospel, their songs are unique reimaginings of age-old themes, combining densely interwoven guitars with lyrics that live in the fallout but aim for salvation.
Amy Lou Keeler is one half of Juno nominated Folk duo Mama's Broke. Nova Scotian born, Amy has traveled the world writing songs, learning tunes, and wowing audiences with her strong, beautiful voice, and heartbreaking melodies.
Folk Club includes an Open Mic portion of the evening - performers are asked to sign up by 6:45pm. Open Mic starts at 7pm, followed by the featured performers at 8pm.
Folk Club is held at Evergreen House (part of the Dartmouth Heritage Museum), 26 Newcastle Street, Dartmouth.
Doors open at 6:30pm.
No registration required. All are welcome!
Admission is by Free Will Donation.
Please note: Folk Club will be on summer hiatus for August and September, returning Thursday, October 1st.
