Meet Trevor Rivoche (he/him)!

As a Clean Leadership intern with Next Ride, Trevor is helping drivers discover what it's like to go electric.

This summer, he's been supporting EV education while helping participants get behind the wheel of an electric vehicle for the very first time. From answering questions to sharing real-world EV knowledge, Trevor is helping make electric transportation feel more familiar and accessible.

One of the most rewarding parts of his internship has been watching people's excitement grow after taking their first EV test drive and seeing just how fun and easy driving electric can be.

Meet Sophie!

Sophie Purcell (she/her) has spent the summer with the Population, Education, Advocacy and Research Lab (PEARL) at St. Francis Xavier University, supporting food sustainability and food rescue research. She completed a literature review for a Divert Nova Scotia student research grant proposal, helping develop the lab's website and supporting the community garden.

Through her internship, Sophie has contributed to efforts to reduce food waste, strengthen food-rescue practices and promote sustainable resource use in communities.

Her favourite part of the role has learning something new each day while building her research skills and contributing to work that benefits the environment and the community. 🌱

Meet Liam!

Liam Krieger (he/him) began his journey with Solar Ascent as a Clean Leader intern four years ago. Returning each summer, he has continued to develop his skills and deepen his experience in the growing renewable energy field.

During his internships, Liam gained hands-on experience in solar installation, project coordination and renewable-energy technology, while strengthening his leadership, problem-solving and teamwork skills. One of his highlights was helping coordinate a major solar installation for the Mariners Centre expansion in Yarmouth.

Since earning his degree, Liam officially joined the Solar Ascent team in a role, where he contributes to solar system design and provides ongoing project support. ☀️

Liam's journey is a great example of how internship experiences can open doors to meaningful careers in Nova Scotia's growing clean-energy sector.

Through outreach events and hands-on demonstrations, Theo has been helping people experience the benefits of driving electric for themselves.

Meet Clean Leader Matthew Ring (he/him), who is spending the summer with Waste Check as a Waste Reduction Outreach Co-ordinator.

Through his Divert NS-funded internship, Matthew has supported curbside monitoring, resident education, transfer station inspections and community outreach initiatives that help residents across Yarmouth and Digby counties improve waste sorting and recycling practices.

Matthew's favourite part of the role has been seeing the direct impact waste reduction and diversion efforts can have in local communities while connecting his chemical engineering studies to real-world environmental challenges.

Meet Livia Dewar (she/her)! 🌿

As a Clean Leadership intern with Acadia University at the K.C. Irving Environmental Science Centre's Botanical Garden, Livia is helping grow and expand the Wabanaki Medicine Garden, a space that showcases traditional healing plants native to the Wabanaki forest.

From leading public tours and creating educational signage to collecting seeds, planting native species and removing invasive plants, Livia's work is helping preserve ecological knowledge while supporting biodiversity and community learning.
