🌈 June is Pride Month 🌈
This month and every month, we celebrate the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and The Village on Main is committed to fostering a community that is safe, welcoming, and inclusive for everyone.

Pride is more than a celebration. It’s a reminder that every person deserves to be seen, respected, supported, and free to live authentically.

Together, we can continue building a community where diversity is embraced, voices are heard, and love in all its forms is celebrated.

🏳️‍🌈Happy Pride Month!

The Nova Scotia College of Early Childhood Education - Akerley Early Learning Centre, a nonprofit childcare centre housed within NSCC Akerley Campus is looking to enhance the outdoor play space and are looking for some assistance from the Community!

🛞They are currently seeking donations of “Loose Parts” which can include but are not limited to, stones, wooden pallets, cable spools, smooth cut lumber pieces, fabric pieces, milk crates, cleaned tires, log cuttings, PVC pipes, and other such items, both natural and man-made.

🪨The Centre believes in the value and power of loose parts play in facilitating the growth and development of young children's physical development, social skills, confidence, problem-solving, and overall wellbeing.

🪵All contributions would greatly support local families and help the Centre continue providing high-quality early learning experiences within our shared community.

Items can be dropped off during the Center’s business hours, which are Monday to Friday from 7:30am-5:30pm. Larger items can be brought directly to the play yard while smaller ones can be brought to the centre inside the NSCC building.

Meet the winner of our Spring Scavenger Hunt Grand Prize of $200 in gift cards from businesses in the Village on Main… Jackson Conrad and his mom, Katie Beaulieu! 🎉

Jackson chose a $100 gift card to his favourite restaurant and decided that was all the prize he needed. With the remaining $100, he chose to donate it to VETS Canada. During the Scavenger Hunt, Jackson was inspired after learning about the important work they do supporting Veterans, especially meaningful to him because his grandfather is a Veteran.

We were so moved by Jackson’s kindness and generosity that we decided to match his $100 donation.
And of course… we surprised Jackson with another gift card of his own! 😊

Thank you, Jackson, for reminding us how simple acts of kindness can make a big difference, and how easy it can be to pay it forward. A wonderful act of Community Spirit!
