Our annual Fall MD Fundraiser was another success, raising $1,809.60 in support of Muscular Dystrophy Canada.

A special thank you to Canadian Tire Charlottetown for their partnership and to everyone who generously donated. Your support helps make a difference for individuals and families living with neuromuscular disorders.

We’re proud to continue the fire service’s longstanding tradition of supporting this cause.

The 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘆 evaluates Charlottetown’s fire protection services. Its classifications could influence residential and commercial property insurance rates, although insurers make their own pricing decisions.

On 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟯, 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘆. Residents are still waiting.

🚒 𝗜𝗧’𝗦 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗛𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗧𝗔𝗫𝗘𝗦 — 𝗜𝗧’𝗦 𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗘𝗦!

Charlottetown allocates just 6.9% of its municipal budget to fire services, compared to an average of 11.8% among the Atlantic Canadian communities we examined.

With our city reporting budget surpluses year after year, we believe the conversation needs to focus on how existing resources are allocated and how public safety is prioritized.

With the municipal election just days away, the decisions made on November 2 will help shape fire protection in Charlottetown for the next four years.

The Charlottetown Professional Firefighters Association is proud to support candidates who have taken the time to listen, understand our concerns, and commit to improving firefighter staffing, resources, and equitable protection across our city.

On October 16, Justin Muttart, Norman Beck and John MacAleer were acclaimed to Charlottetown City Council.

Ted has been a longtime friend of Charlottetown firefighters, building relationships with our members throughout his 35-year career in public service as PEI’s Chief Provincial Electrical Inspector. His experience working alongside firefighters has given him a firsthand understanding of the importance of fire protection and community safety.

Ted supports three key priorities that align with our commitment to public safety:

🚒 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗥 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗚: Ensuring a minimum of four professional firefighters on the first responding apparatus.

⚖️ 𝗘𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗧𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗘 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗘 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡: Ensuring residents in every ward receive a comparable level of fire protection.

🛡️ 𝗣𝗨𝗕𝗟𝗜𝗖 𝗦𝗔𝗙𝗘𝗧𝗬: Supporting the staffing and resources firefighters need to respond safely and effectively.
