There’s something special about a pot of PEI mussels.
Maybe it’s how quickly they come together.
Maybe it’s that rich, flavourful broth you can’t stop dipping into.
Or maybe it’s knowing they were grown in the clean, cold waters of Prince Edward Island — naturally, sustainably, and with care.
From classic white wine and garlic… to tomato-based broths, creamy sauces, or bold global flavours — mussels have a way of fitting into just about any kitchen.
Simple. Versatile. Always satisfying.
So we have to ask…
what’s your favourite way to prepare mussels? 🍲✨

Before the patios open… before the summer rush… there’s something special about a quiet oyster night at home. ❄️
A dozen Prince Edward Island oysters on ice, a few simple garnishes, maybe a glass of wine or cider - and suddenly the whole evening slows down. No big production, no complicated prep. Just fresh, clean flavour and good company around the table.
Late winter is one of the best times to enjoy oysters. Cold waters mean they’re at their peak - crisp, briny, and beautifully balanced, with that signature PEI sweetness in every bite.
Whether it’s a planned dinner or a spontaneous get-together, oysters have a way of turning any night into something memorable.
Keep it simple. Keep it local. Keep it cozy. 🦪💙

Ever driven along the coast on Prince Edward Island and noticed long lines of black buoys stretching across the water? 🌊

What you’re looking at is the start of something incredible.
Beneath the surface, those buoys are anchored to ropes - known as mussel socks - holding thousands of PEI mussels as they grow in the cool, clean waters of the Island.

As they grow, mussels naturally filter the water, feeding on plankton and helping maintain a healthy marine ecosystem. No feed, no additives - just the ocean doing what it does best.

Over time, those same mussels are harvested and shipped across Canada and beyond - with Prince Edward Island producing around 80% of North America’s mussels.

So the next time you pass by those quiet rows of buoys, just know…
there’s a whole world of flavour growing just beneath the surface. 🦪✨

👉 Have you ever seen mussel socks in the water before?

Did you know that no two PEI oyster brands taste exactly the same? 🦪
Just like wine reflects the land where grapes are grown, oysters reflect the waters they grow in - a concept known as merroir.

Across Prince Edward Island, oysters are farmed in bays, estuaries, and inlets that each have their own unique conditions. Differences in salinity, water temperature, tidal flow, and the nutrients in the seabed all influence how an oyster grows and what flavours develop inside the shell.

That’s why oysters from different parts of the Island can taste completely different. Some are bright and briny, others are mild and sweet, while some develop deep mineral notes or a clean cucumber finish.

From Malpeque Bay to Cascumpec Bay, to the waters around Raspberry Point and beyond, each oyster brand carries the signature of its home waters.
Exploring PEI oysters isn’t just about eating shellfish - it’s about tasting the Island itself.

Warm, rich, and layered with Atlantic flavour, this dish brings together two of PEI’s most iconic shellfish in one hearty pot.

From rope to plate. 🌊

Every PEI mussel begins its journey suspended in the cool, clean waters surrounding Prince Edward Island. Rope-grown and nurtured by tide and time, they feed naturally on plankton — no additives, no artificial feed, just the ocean doing what it does best.

Shellfish harvesters head out daily, hauling lines by hand and by boat, carefully checking growth, ensuring quality, and respecting the rhythms of the water. Once harvested, mussels are cleaned, graded, and tagged for full traceability before heading off to markets, restaurants, and kitchens across Canada and beyond.

Within days — sometimes hours — they’re steamed open in a pot of wine, garlic, and herbs, shared around a table with friends and family.

It’s a journey rooted in patience, stewardship, and pride.
From the fisher’s hands… to yours.
