Dear CARP Member, I wanted to share with you the letter I sent to Premier Rob Lantz of Prince Edward Island, in his role as host and Chair of the Council of the Federation. We're planning our next CARP Toronto Mayoral Debate, but Mayor, Olivia Chow won't commit?
We invited her on the day she announced her intention to seek re-election. We even said, 'choose the weekday' that works best for you in September. Her main challenger, Councillor Brad Bradford has agreed to join us, 'any time, anywhere' but we can't have a debate without the incumbent... and these things take some time to plan!
Toronto CARP members are encouraged to implore Mayor Chow to commit to the CARP Debate! She joined us in 2014 and 2023 - we trust she had a positive experience then, and we promise another one in 2026.

Happy Canada Day from CARP!
After a month spent celebrating seniors in many provinces, today we celebrate together as a nation.
As we mark Canada Day, we also recognize the generations of older Canadians who helped build the communities and country we call home.
It is a scorcher in many parts of Canada today, so please take care in the heat. Stay cool, drink plenty of water, and check in on your neighbours, friends, and family.
Wishing all CARP members a safe and happy Canada Day.

Are you living with chronic pain? Do you care for someone who is?
The Department of Health and Wellness in collaboration with Health PEI is developing the PEI Chronic Pain Strategy, a five-year plan to improve care, access, and support for Islanders living with chronic pain.
We want to hear from you.

We are hosting two small-group conversations with Islanders who live with chronic pain and their families or caregivers. You don't need to prepare anything, simply come and share what it's really like: what has helped, what has been difficult, and what would make a difference for you and others.
• Central/East : Thursday, May 28th, 6:00 to 8:00pm, Stratford Town Hall, 234 Shakespeare Drive, Stratford
• Prince County: Tuesday, June 2nd, 6:00 to 8:00pm, Microtel Inn and Suites, 515 Notre Dame Street, Summerside
• French language — virtual, facilitated in French. Wednesday, May 27th 6:00 – 8:00pm. Once registered, the virtual session Zoom link will be shared with you by email.

Sessions run about two hours. Space is limited to keep the conversation personal. Light refreshments will be provided for in-person events.
