Payarri Consent Determination

On 4 December 2025, the Federal Court recognised the Payarri People's native title in the Northern Goldfields—the 125th consent determination in WA.
The determination covers approximately 3,702 square kilometres. NTSG congratulates the Payarri native title holders on this long-awaited outcome, and Central Desert Native Title Services for their work in bringing the matter to determination.

Last month, we had the privilege of coming together to celebrate the Kakarra Part A consent determination of native title — a truly significant milestone for the Kakarra people.

We would like to thank the Kakarra Aboriginal Corporation, its directors, and everyone who came along to celebrate this special occasion. Thank you to Pearl Scott and her team for serving up the delicious roo and damper.

On 30 April 2025, Justice McEvoy of the Federal Court of Australia made a determination of native title. This determination formally recognises the native title rights and interests of the Kakarra people and the traditional ownership they have maintained over their lands since time immemorial.

Progressing a native title claim to consent determination is no small feat — it is a challenging process and one that deserves to be celebrated. We thank you all again for your hard work and for coming together to make this day so memorable.

NTSG congratulates the Ngadju people on achieving recognition of their native title over the Norseman townsite.

On 12 November 2025 Justice Colvin of the Federal Court of Australia delivered judgement for the Ngadju Mia Wamu claim. He determined that Ngadju people's native title rights and interests are recognised over the townsite and that NNTAC will also be the prescribed body corporate for this determination area on behalf of Ngadju people,

Filed in 2021, the area covers 6.5 sq km over the Norseman townsite, and is wholly surrounded by the Ngadju determination area where Ngadju people's native title was recognised in 2014.

The Ngadju Mia Wamu claim was bought by the Ngadju people who are the recognised native title holders for the surrounding Ngadju determination area. The Ngadju people sought native title over the townsite based on the same traditional laws and customs recognised in the 2014 determination.

We again congratulate the Ngadju people on achieving recognition over the townsite.
