Some mornings are harder than others.

My body is stiff, my gait is slow, and getting going can take longer than it used to. But I do get going.

I was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2016. I still go to the gym. I still travel. I still laugh - a lot. That's not luck. It's what happens when you have the right people in your corner.

I am more than my Parkinsons.

If you've ever wondered what a donation to Parkinson's Australia goes to, it funds national advocacy, connection and awareness for our Parkinson’s community.

Help us fight the stigma because I AM MORE THAN MY PARKINSON’S!

This World Continence Week (15–21 June), we're proud to be joining Continence Health Australia in encouraging people to seek support sooner.

Did you know that on average, people live with incontinence for 4 to 6 years before reaching out for help?

Whether you're avoiding social activities, feeling anxious about leaks, or too embarrassed to talk about your symptoms — you're not alone, and support is available.

With 1 in 4 Australians experiencing some form of incontinence, this is more common than many people realise. Yet stigma continues to keep people silent for far too long.

This year's theme says it all: "When you've got to go, we've got you."

If bladder or bowel health is something you or someone you love is navigating alongside Parkinson's, reach out to the National Continence Helpline on 1800 33 00 66 or visit https://hubs.la/Q04lGvvd0

It's National Blood Donor Week (8–14 June) & you can make a difference!

Did you know that over 8.3 million Australians will need blood in their lifetime?

While Parkinson’s itself doesn’t typically require regular blood transfusions, many people living with Parkinson’s are older and often face hospitalisations for related conditions, like infections, surgeries, or falls, that may require blood products.

In fact, in 2019–20 alone, there were over 48,000 hospitalisations of PLWP in Australia.

That's why we're asking you, your family, and your friends to donate blood as part of the Parkinson's Australia Lifeblood Team.

Every donation counts. Join our team: https://hubs.la/Q04l05ZM0 > Join existing team > Search the word "Parkinson" and you'll find us.

I can do a 3-minute deadhang at the gym. I live with Parkinson's.

I'm not sharing that to show off. I'm sharing it because when I was first diagnosed, I didn't know if any of this would still be possible. The answer, with the right support, is yes.

I am more than my Parkinson's. And Parkinson's Australia helped me believe and live it.

Before 30 June, help us fight the stigma so that everyone can believe they are more than their Parkinson's!
