Established by like minded clubs to represent the interests of recreational four wheel drivers in SA Four Wheel Drive South Australia Inc.

(4WDSA or FWDSA) was established by like minded clubs to represent the interests of recreational 4WDrivers in SA. It was also recognised that it had a role to promote and educate club members as to the responsibilities accompanying the pleasure of four wheel driving as a recreation. It has expanded from the early days of 3 or 4 clubs to 31 clubs - and growing. This is a non-profit organisation that actively supports the Royal Flying Doctor Service at both association and club level.

A terrific initiative to celebrate Rangelands and Pastoralists

The Royal Australian Mint has released a new coin design to celebrate the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP).

Two commemorative $1 coins honour Australia's rangelands, the people that look after them, and the ecological, cultural and economic value they hold.

The coin design captures the essence of the Australian Rangelands, with elements drawn from the IYRP logo. A horse and rider with a dog represent the spirit of pastoral work and the sheep and cow represent Australia’s agricultural foundations. A gnarled gum tree, the outline of mountains and soaring wedge-tailed eagle in the background demonstrate the vastness of the rangelands. The coin is framed with the text Rangelands and Pastoralists.

These aren't coins you'll collect in change from the supermarket. You'll need to order them, either as a 2026 uncirculated coin for $17.50, limited to three, or a silver proof coin for $80, limited to one.

Sound advice for us all

Spring is the perfect time to get out and explore South Australia’s parks, but with Fire Danger Season now underway, it’s important to be aware of restrictions to keep yourself, our parks and the community safe.

Here are some key things to know before you go:

🔥 Campfires are not allowed in many parks during Fire Danger Season. Gas or liquid fuel stoves may still be allowed for cooking, but always check the specific rules for the park you want to visit. See the full list of park fire restrictions at parks.sa.gov.au/know-before-you-go/campfires-and-bbqs.

🥾 Heysen Trail walkers take note. Sections of the Heysen Trail crossing through private property are closed during Fire Danger Season. Find the latest trail information at heysentrail.asn.au.

🚩Before heading off, check your park’s fire safety information and any current Park Alerts at parks.sa.gov.au/closures-and-alerts.

👻 Apparently plenty of South Aussies are brave enough to venture behind the walls of a 145-year-old former prison after dark.

Lantern Ghost Tours'Halloween opening at Gladstone Gaol is already SOLD OUT – but if you missed out, you haven’t missed your chance to see what might still be lurking inside.

Tours will continue on Saturday nights, taking visitors through the old cells and corridors while delving into the gaol’s true crime, history and reported paranormal activity.
