Lions Spooktacular takes over Golden Fields, Golden Grove tomorrow for a day packed with Halloween fun and community spirit!

🧙‍♀️ Dress up in your favourite Halloween costume and join us for a frightfully fun day featuring:
🎃 Haunted Highway Trick-or-Treating
👻 Spooky games and activities
🧪 Magical potion making
🎨 Face painting and Halloween crafts
🏰 Jumping castle and games
🍩 Delicious food, treats and market stalls
👀 FREE Children's Vision Screenings
☀️ FREE Skin Cancer Screenings
And plenty more spooky surprises!

This event is being organised by Lions Club volunteers. Lions-run activities will be by gold coin donation, face painting for $5 OR purchase a $10 Trick or Treat Bag which includes activities, face painting and you can collect stamps and lollies along the way.

Did you know Lions has been connected with the United Nations since its very beginning?

In 1945, Lions leaders were invited to participate in the development of the United Nations Charter, helping establish the role of non-governmental organisations within the new international organisation.

Since 1947, Lions International has held consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), reflecting our longstanding commitment to improving lives and strengthening communities around the world.

Today, Lions and Leos continue to work alongside UN partners, support shared humanitarian goals and contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals through service in communities across the globe.

From local projects to international initiatives, Lions demonstrates what can happen when people come together with a shared commitment to serve.

💚 World Mental Health Day | 10 October

Today is World Mental Health Day, a reminder that mental health matters just as much as physical health.

As Lions, we believe in building stronger, more connected communities where people feel supported, valued and included. Sometimes, the simplest acts of kindness can make a real difference, checking in on someone, taking the time to listen, or letting someone know they’re not alone.

💚 Check in. Listen without judgement. Show you care.

Together, we can help break down stigma, encourage conversations about mental health and create communities where everyone feels supported.

🦁 District Convention starts TODAY!

It’s time to come together for our District 201C1 Convention! 🎉

A weekend of fellowship, learning, sharing ideas and celebrating the incredible work Lions do in our communities.

From connecting with fellow Lions and Leos to exploring new opportunities for service, it’s a chance to reflect on what we’ve achieved and look ahead to what we can accomplish together.

👀 Happy World Sight Day! 👀

Today is a reminder to and make time for your eye health. Regular eye examinations can help detect changes in your vision and eye health, so don’t put it off.

👓 Lions are also helping protect children’s sight.
Through the Lions Eye Health Program (LEHP), more than 27,000 free children's vision screenings have now been completed across Australia in 2026, smashing the original target of 17,000!

Almost 1,700 Lions volunteers have helped make this possible. 💙 Lions Clubs across District 201C1 are proud to support LEHP and the children's vision screening program and have contributed to these incredible numbers.

📚 Dyslexia Awareness Week

Reading and literacy can open doors, but not every child experiences reading in the same way.

Lions Clubs are passionate about supporting reading, literacy and learning through a wide range of projects and initiatives. From supporting Story Dogs and the Hear Me Roar! Project, to Lions-operated second-hand bookshops, book donations and local literacy initiatives, Lions are helping put books into the hands of children and families in our communities.

Dyslexia is a lifelong learning difference that can affect reading, writing and spelling. With understanding, encouragement and the right support, children with dyslexia can develop their strengths and find their own pathways to success.

This Dyslexia Awareness Week, we're celebrating the importance of literacy and encouraging inclusive opportunities for everyone to discover the enjoyment, knowledge and possibilities that reading can bring. 📖💙

Because every reader has a story to tell.

We extend our sincere thanks to Her Excellency the Governor of South Australia and Mr Bunten for their wonderful support of Lions and their involvement with our organisation during Her Excellency’s term as Governor.

Their support has helped shine a light on the important work Lions volunteers undertake across our community, including Lions Assistance Dogs, the Lions Medical Research Foundation and many other Lions initiatives.

Thank you, Your Excellency and Mr Bunten, for your encouragement, interest and genuine support of Lions and the communities we serve.

We would also like to congratulate Commissioner Grant Stevens APM on his appointment as the 37th Governor of South Australia. We look forward to welcoming him to this important role and to seeing what the future brings as Lions continues to work alongside our community and South Australian leaders in service to others.

We wish Her Excellency and Mr Bunten all the very best for their next chapter, and extend our warmest congratulations to Governor-designate Grant Stevens APM.
