Over the Easter holidays, I had the privilege of both participating in and serving on the organising committee for the ZimPride Soccer Tournament—an incredible event that brought together Zimbabwean teams from across Australia.
Teams travelled from Victoria, NSW, Tasmania, Queensland, Alice Springs, Western Australia, Darwin, and South Australia, with a record 14 teams taking part in this year’s tournament.
It was truly a beautiful and successful tournament—one that not only showcased remarkable football talent, but also strengthened community connections while promoting social cohesion and social and emotional wellbeing.
A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors for making this event possible: Nokutenda Disability Foundation Inc, World Remit, Diaspora Funeral, Technofin, City of Playford, Ray White, Fulham Funerals, and CMI Toyota.
We were also honoured by the presence of the Zimbabwean Ambassador to Australia, His Excellency Joe Mhishi, and the Mayor of the City of Playford, Glenn Docherty, alongside other distinguished guests.
Every team that participated was a winner—congratulations to the overall champions from Victoria for their outstanding performance! 🏆
Here are some highlights from the tournament, with more to come soon.

Pictures from our first session on Sunday, 1st of February 2026. Thanks to all who attended. We welcome new people this coming Sunday, u are welcome.

Great conversations and strong connections coming out of our CALD Men’s Mental Health & Soccer sessions ⚽💬
These sessions create a safe and welcoming space for men from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to talk openly about mental health while staying active through soccer. By combining meaningful conversations with physical activity, we’re building social cohesion, strengthening wellbeing, and supporting healthier minds and bodies.
It’s about more than just the game — it’s about connection, inclusion, and supporting one another on and off the field.

If you want it more casual, more formal, or with a stronger call to action (e.g. inviting people to join or support), tell me the vibe and audience and I’ll tweak it.

It was a pleasure to meet with the Mayor of Playford Glenn Docherty on Friday 19th of Septrember 2025, as we continue to strengthen our relationship with the Council in supporting the mental health needs of CALD communities. As we prepare for next year’s football event, to be held over the Easter holidays in the Playford area and bringing together teams from across Australia, our shared vision becomes clearer: to raise awareness around mental health, reduce stigma, mentor young people, and provide effective crisis intervention support.

Last Sunday we were awarded the Excellence in Disability and Mental Health Advocacy Award. We are deeply honoured and humbled to have received the Africa Day Award for Excellence in Mental Health and Advocacy.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who voted and believed in the work we do. Your support means the world and continues to fuel our passion for creating change in our communities.

My sincere gratitude also goes to Africa Day Inc, the organisers of this incredible event for recognising the importance of mental health and for providing a platform to celebrate advocacy and community impact.

This award is not just a personal achievement—it is a shared victory for all of us who are committed to breaking stigma, improving access, and uplifting the mental wellbeing of African communities in Australia.

Thank you for this incredible honour. The journey continues, and together, we can make even greater strides.

We would also likr to thank Zimbabwe ambasador to Australia His Ecellency Joe Tapera Mhishi and Honourable Minister of Multicultural Affairs and tourism Honourable Zoe Bettison for presenting the award
