This is what Legacy Week looks like so far 💛

Volunteers out on the streets, badges and bears finding new homes, and communities across the country coming together to support veterans' families.

Every badge, every bear, every conversation helps us provide financial aid, advocacy, education and development opportunities, and emotional and practical care to the partners, children and families of veterans who've given so much for our country.

If you see our volunteers out and about, stop by, say hello, and grab a badge or a bear. There's only a few days left!

This Legacy Week, showing up for veterans' families can be as simple as sharing a post.

Behind every badge and bear is a family who's given more than most of us will ever know - partners, kids, and loved ones of veterans who served this country. Legacy exists so they don't have to face that alone.

Grab a badge or a bear from one of our volunteers this week, take a picture or share this post to let your friends and family know you're standing with veterans' families too.

It costs nothing to share, but it helps more people know why this week matters.

Tag us when you do, and if you can't make it to a stall, you can still donate here canberralegacy.com.au/donate

On the first Wednesday of September each year, we mark Battle for Australia Day - a time for us to recognise all those who served in the defence of the Australian mainland and in sea, land and air battles across the Pacific region during World War II.

The immediate threat passed but not before thousands of Australians had given everything to make sure it did. When a generation was left without their loved ones who never made it home from New Guinea, Darwin, or the seas around us, Legacy was there for their families then and we still are today.

Earlier this year we widened our eligibility so even more veteran families can be welcomed in. Today, that means we support more than 25,000 partners and children of veterans across Australia, through financial support, case management and social connection. We're here for them and for whoever needs us next.

Legacy Week 2026 has officially launched!

Today at the Australian War Memorial, we proudly launched Legacy Week, our national campaign dedicated to supporting the families of veterans who have given their life or health as a result of their service.

We were honoured to be joined by our Patron, Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of Australia, along with our beneficiaries, Legatees, supporters, and guests.

From 30 August to 5 September, Legacy Week raises vital funds and awareness to provide practical, emotional, and financial support to veterans' families when they need it most.

Thank you to everyone who attended the launch and continues to support Legacy. Every badge purchased and every story shared helps make a difference.

💙 Legacy Week 2026 is here! 💙

Across the country, volunteers are out in their communities selling iconic Legacy badges, bears and collecting donations to support veterans’ families.

Funds raised during Legacy Week help provide essential services for the families we care for - personalised support through financial aid, advocacy, education and development opportunities, emotional and practical care.

If you see our volunteers out and about (or our Legacy Bears!) stop by, say hello and buy a badge or a bear to support veterans’ families.

And, if you can’t make it to one of our stalls this week, you can still show your support by making an online donation: canberralegacy.com.au/donate

📸We’d also love to see how you’re supporting Legacy Week! Share your photos, tag us, and help spread the word so more Australians know how they can get involved.

Legacy Week is Legacy’s national fundraising and awareness campaign, dedicated to supporting the families of veterans who have given their life or health in defence of our nation. This year Legacy Week will run from Sunday 30 August to Saturday 5 September 2026, with our iconic Badge Day on Friday 4 September.

The National Launch of Legacy Week will be held on Monday 31 August 2026 in the Sculpture Garden at the Australian War Memorial Canberra. The Launch Ceremony will be followed by a reception at the AWM, proudly sponsored by Marsh.

Join us in honouring the service and sacrifice of our veterans by purchasing a Legacy badge, making a donation, or sharing Legacy’s message during Legacy Week. Together, we can make a difference for veteran families.

We're Ready for Legacy Week!

A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered their time at Legacy House this week to help prepare for Legacy Week. There was a lot to do in the lead-up, with days spent sorting, packing, and organising, and it was fantastic to see everything come together.

We're pleased to say that all merchandise has now been packed, collected, and delivered to sites across the region, ready for the start of Legacy Week.

Legacy Week officially kicks off next week, so keep an eye out for our volunteers at your local shopping centres and community locations. Be sure to stop by, say hello, and support Legacy as we raise funds to support the families of veterans.

Thank you to everyone who has helped get Legacy Week off to a great start. We look forward to seeing you out and about next week!
