This is the public page of USyd's Autonomous Collective Against Racism. Here we share announcements, events and resources broadly related to our collective and it's politics. Founded in late 2013, ACAR stands for the principles of autonomy and self-determination, especially as it applies to anti-racist activism. We strive to provide a safe space for those who identify as a Person of Colour, Indige

nous or as marginalised by White Supremacy on campus. Additionally we engage in various projects of self-empowerment, community building and anti-racist activism. Join ACAR next week for the final session of the new SRC Liberation Library, an intersectional political reading group series brought to you by our The University of Sydney SRC collectives! 📚✊

We will be reading Orientalism by Edward Said, one of the seminal texts in postcolonial theory. Said explores the concept of “orientalism”, particularly the cultural, political, and historical relationship between the Western world and what we know today as South-West Asia & North Africa.

RSVP and join us on Thursday, 27 August 2026 to watch the 2014 documentary "The Redfern Story". The film traces the history and legacy of the National Black Theatre in Redfern, a group of First Nations activists who used radical theatre to highlight the struggle for land rights and equality for the Indigenous peoples of so-called 'Australia' in the 1970s.

The film screening will be held at Heydon Laurence Lecture Theatre 217 (DT Anderson), with doors opening at 5:00pm. The film will start at 5:30pm.

Entry is free, and food and drink will be provided. Please RSVP in advance via the link in bio, so we can order enough food and be mindful of attendees' dietary requirements. See you next week!

Join us to watch the Palestinian documentary “Five Broken Cameras” on Friday 29 May!

The documentary records the firsthand accounts of protests in Bil’in, a Palestinian village in the West Bank with a rich history of anti-occupation activism fighting against the Israeli settlements.

There’ll be FREE food, zines, and a post-film discussion where we’ll be sharing resources on the long history of Palestinian activism and the movement for liberation.

The .usyd board candidate profiles have officially been published by and these are the 6 candidates who stated support for BDS in the USU and working towards an apartheid-free USU.

ACAR has been working on making the USU an apartheid-free zone, where we recently sent an open letter to the entire USU board detailing our demands.
