Good luck to all for your end of Semester 1, 2026! This is my last Honi Soit report for a few months, but there will be lots of updates on our Instagram and in the fortnightly newsletter I started. Here are a few recent updates to provide:
– I’m trying a new form of our monthly Council recaps to provide information and transparency to those who don’t venture to filter through the minutes on our website (fair)
– Following the University, SUPRA and SRC announced that after this week the Laneway $5 lunches will be closed but will be replaced by a new $5 meal canteen in J03 from semester 2
– I’ve been working on organising a coalition to counter-protest an anti-abortion bill on 2 June 2026. Check out the Instagram for more details and make sure to get organised against people trying to repeal our rights!
– Our SRC office continues to suffer in the Wentworth basement with a crumbling roof and leaking water 🥀 I hopefully will be back in my next report with some good news
– Following on from my W12 report, the proposal to remove StuVac from intensive units has not been approved in the Academic Standards and Policy Committee following intervention from myself, SUPRA, and a few staff members regarding the lack of consultation of students and the Disability Inclusion Action Plan. I’ll keep you posted
Check out some cool SRC events this Friday evening – at 4pm there is a film screening of ‘5 broken cameras’ by ACAR, SFP, FilmSoc, and ArabSoc (location TBC), before a 6pm Enviro Collective event ‘last drag on earth’ (Hermann’s Bar) featuring drag kings and environmental justice
Over the break, make sure to follow and sign up to our newsletter via the SRC website to stay up to date.
In solidarity,
Grace
