🔌🚙 Uniting is excited to partner with Origin Energy to roll out 42 electric vehicle chargers across 21 Residential Aged Care sites located across NSW and the ACT.

Not only is this a step towards Uniting’s 2040 carbon neutral goal, but it will allow staff to move between sites without worrying about where they can charge their electric cars. Having a charging station at or near their place of work will help those people who have ‘range anxiety’.

We have already begun transitioning our fleet of vehicles and plan to electrify the full fleet over the coming years. This will help bring us closer to our sustainability goals, which focus on reducing carbon emissions across our buildings and operations.

This World Environment Day, we’re taking a positive step towards our commitment to care for people today while protecting the planet for future generations.

When young people lead, their communities thrive. Many teens in regional communities are missing out on everyday essentials and that can mean anything from missing school to feeling anxious and excluded and unable to participate. But giving young people agency to provide solutions to issues that affect them means a change for the whole community.

From Coffs Harbour to the South Coast, Uniting is empowering teens to change their world. We’re listening and working alongside young changemakers who are finding creative solutions to the challenges that matter most.

Young people have created the Hygiene Hub to access toiletries without shame, Burton Street Beats music festival to provide a creative outlet for young musicians, and Table 2542 to bring people together at a communal dinner.

You can help support young people to be catalysts for change in their community. Make a tax-deductible donation this winter to bring meaningful change in our regional areas: https://www.uniting.org/winter2026

Heatwaves, floods and storms are disrupting the care that community services frontline workers provide. Uniting NSW.ACT and the UnitingCare Australia network have teamed up with Eighty Nine Degrees East to release the Extreme weather Impacts Report.

The survey results found that the community services workforce across Australia are caring and committed, but increasingly challenged by extreme weather events. In fact, 91% of people surveyed had been affected by extreme weather in the last five years. Increasing workloads and disrupted access to clients is taking a significant toll on the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of our staff and clients.

We hope that with the right policy settings, investment and partnership, governments and the community services sector can work together to reduce harm, strengthen resilience and disrupt entrenched disadvantage.

She's been called the Gerringong Dynamite, and with 106 years under her belt, Gwen Wilson has more than earned the title. 💥

Uniting Boronia Gerringong resident Gwen has called the coast home since a holiday cottage brought her family here in 1957.

She surfs, she bowls and she orders an Espresso Martini at the Probus Club.
Gwen is such the local superstar that WIN News came along to captured the early celebrations - as her official birthday is not until next month.

The crew saw her singing with friends, who weren't shy about why Gwen is so loved. "She just enjoys everything," said one. We think that says it all.

On June 7, Gwen celebrates her 106th birthday surrounded by family and friends at Uniting Boronia Gerringong.

We're so proud she calls our community home. 💜

Happy birthday, Gwen. Here's to the Espresso Martinis. 🎂

The Uniting Family and Carer Mental Health Program is committed to recognising, supporting and strengthening the vital role that families and carers play in the mental health system.

A sneak peek at an unforgettable day inside NSW Parliament House. 🖤

Yesterday, the Jubilee Room was filled with an incredible mix of courage, legacy, and community as we marked 25 years of the Uniting Medically Supervised Injecting Centre. From the moving speeches of our storytellers to the powerful show of support from parliamentarians across the political spectrum, the energy in the room was electric.

This is just a glimpse of the celebration. We can't wait to share more of the incredible outcomes, stories, and moments from this milestone with you all very soon. Stay tuned!

Proud Kamilaroi man and Uniting Internal Auditor for our LAC program, Harry Harrison, invites us all to take part in reconciliation.

“National Reconciliation Week is a significant time for reflection, learning, and action across Australia. It commemorates two key milestones in the nation’s reconciliation journey. The successful 1967 referendum and the High Court’s 1992 Mabo decision, both of which were pivotal in advancing the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

"The theme for this year is “All In” and it encourages all Australians to reflect on our shared histories and consider how each of us can contribute to reconciliation in meaningful ways. It urges everyone to act, emphasising that reconciliation is not a spectator sport. It is a call to action, not only to acknowledge the past but to actively shape a more inclusive and equitable future.

"It is a reminder that we all have a responsibility to recognise the importance of embedding reconciliation principles into our everyday lives. This includes supporting Indigenous communities, respecting cultural heritage, and promoting equity within our workplaces and beyond."

Sorry Day is more than an apology.

It is a time to reflect on the loss, grief and trauma experienced by Stolen Generations survivors, their families and communities.
This year’s National Sorry Day theme, From Sorry to Action, reminds us that words must be matched with accountability and meaningful action.

At Uniting, we continue to reflect on our leadership and allyship, both as a team and as individuals, and the role we play in closing the gap and creating positive change for First Nations peoples.

As we move towards National Reconciliation Week, we remain committed to reconciliation and walking together towards a better future. ⚫🟡🔴

It’s people like Fiona we want to celebrate this National Volunteer Week. Fiona volunteers for Uniting and several other organisations in her local area. As a former teacher, Fiona knows that she still has a lot to contribute even though she’s retired.

Thanks to Fiona, David was able to get his 120 hours of driver training so he could get his driver’s license. Living in a regional area, David relies on his car to get him to school and work. Fiona was able to help David out through Uniting’s driver mentoring program.

We’re so grateful to our volunteers who give up their time to help other people in the community. We celebrate you!

Take a look at how the journey of disability has evolved in Australia since the NDIS launched in 2016.

It’s a story of progress, change, inclusion, and the people driving it forward.

We’re honoured to have played a part – together with our customers, communities and partners - in this Decade of Impact. 👏
