At Edge, we’ve been supporting people with disability on their employment journeys since 1984. From school leavers to seniors.

Today, as a registered NDIS provider, we continue our goal– transforming lives, businesses and perceptions of people with disability –one opportunity at a time. We’ve secured employment for over 9,000 people of all ages across the Perth metro region and practically every industry. From first jobs to new career paths. From wannabe entrepreneurs with small-business dreams to community volunteers. But more than finding or creating the right opportunity, we ensure everyone – every client and employer – has the personalised training and ongoing support they need to make each opportunity a success. Ash took his passion for blacksmithing to the Perth Royal Show!

Recently, Ash demonstrated his blacksmithing skills and shared his passion with the community.

With support from his Edge NDIS Employment Support Coach, Andrea, Ash discovered The Blacksmiths' Association of Western Australia. After attending a workshop, he joined the Association and now independently travels to sessions each week, continuing to develop his skills.

He has already learnt to make bookmarks, bottle openers and can openers, while building his independence and becoming part of a community connected by a shared passion.

We’re heading into Term 4 with our new and improved Project Employment workbook, helping high school students with disability take their next steps towards the world of work.

Filled with practical activities and helpful information, the workbook supports students to build workplace skills, explore employment options and grow their confidence.

Exploring Career Pathways 🔎

Week Six of Project Employment, our workplace preparation program for high school students, gave students the chance to explore different industries and discover new career possibilities.

From visits to Varsity Australia, Vitaland Kids Cafe and Scitech to presentations from Construction Training Fund and North Metropolitan TAFE, students gained valuable insights into workplaces, training and employment pathways.

Our work preparation program for high school students, Project Employment, is made even more valuable through the support of local businesses that open their doors and give students a genuine look into the world of work.

From hospitality at Varsity and innovation at Scitech to gaining insight into the mining industry, students are introduced to a range of workplaces, roles and career pathways.

Experiences like these help young people build confidence, ask questions and explore potential roles they may not have considered before.

Bobby has taken an exciting step towards greater independence by starting driving lessons!

With the support of his Edge Employment Support Coach, Bobby has continued to challenge himself, build confidence, and work towards his goals. From volunteering with the Red Cross to completing work experience at Red Dot Home, he is developing new skills, gaining valuable experience, and achieving milestones along the way.
