It was a privilege for our Chairman Bruce Watkins and Managing Director Cate Harman to join the team at MATES in Construction WA at Crown for their annual lunch on Friday.

Over 800 people across the , mining and energy sectors came together to raise awareness and funds for and su***de prevention in the industry.

👉 Su***de is one of the leading causes of death in Australia's construction industry, which is why MATES' mental health support services and 24/7 helpline are so critical.

Having just completed a dust disease and mental health campaign with MATES as part of , the lunch was a fitting close to this initiative.

Well done to Liam C., Sinead Donovan and the MATES team for another fantastic event 👏

When Mackenzie Lighton’s mother, Debra, was diagnosed with , her family was suddenly searching for more time, better treatment options and hope.

We supported Debra and her family through that journey. Now, Mackenzie is working on research with the potential to improve outcomes to help change what families face after a mesothelioma diagnosis.

Working alongside Dr Alistair Cook at the Institute for Respiratory Health, Mackenzie is helping raise $20,000 before 30th June to move a promising new treatment closer to clinical trials.

Please donate, share or pass this on.

Every contribution helps bring families facing mesothelioma more time together.

What does it take to protect future generations from disease?

This time last week, Sam Dixon, MADDA’s Admin & Marketing Coordinator, had the opportunity to share with Perth Rotary - Western Australia her experience of attending the ASBESTOS 2026 Conference in Sydney — made possible through the club’s generous sponsorship.

Sam spoke of the networking opportunities with peers around the country, and how great it was to hear from leading professionals in the asbestos space. She also attended sessions exploring large-scale asbestos removal projects, and the confronting reality that more than 6.4 million tonnes of asbestos remains in Australia’s built environment.

Thank you again to Perth Rotary for investing in Sam’s professional development and supporting opportunities like this that strengthen MADDA’s work and advocacy efforts.

Breathlessness doesn’t stop at the lungs.

Don’t wait for it to build up.

Dust safety is a shared responsibility – workers and employers both play a role.

MATES and MADDA are here to support you when you need it.
