The These Hands Project is a Masonic Care WA initiative created to celebrate the lives and stories of residents at Middle Swan and Howard Solomon Residential Care.

Through photographs of residents’ hands and the stories shared alongside them, the project reflects the work, relationships, experiences and memories that have shaped their lives over the years.

We’re grateful to every resident who took part and shared their story, as well as the families and staff who helped bring the project together.

Yesterday, our Village Managers came together to share what's happening across our retirement living communities, discuss challenges and opportunities, and exchange ideas with one another.

These meetings are a valuable opportunity to learn from each other's experiences, strengthen connections across our villages and explore new ways to support residents and enhance community life.

By working together, we can continue building vibrant, connected communities across Masonic Care WA.

This Dementia Action Week, we’re joining the conversation to help build greater understanding of dementia and reduce the stigma that can make people feel isolated.

In this video, one of our team members shares why talking about dementia matters, and how listening, learning and starting conversations can help people feel more supported and connected.

Dementia affects not only the person living with it, but also families, friends, carers and communities. And sometimes, one conversation can be the first step towards understanding and support.

This Dementia Action Week, let’s keep the conversation going. 💙

Our Howard Solomon Residential Care residents were back in action at the Belmont Live Lighter Aged Care Games 2026! 🏅

This year, 7 residents, joined by 2 staff members and family, took part alongside 11 other teams from aged care facilities across the region.

It was our second year competing as the Fast & Furious, and while we didn’t make the top three this time, there was plenty of teamwork, encouragement and fun throughout the day.

A wonderful effort from everyone involved, and we’re proud of our Fast & Furious team for getting out there and giving it their best! 💙

Today is R U OK? Day 💛

A simple conversation can make a meaningful difference.

Take a moment today to check in with the people around you, whether that’s a colleague, friend, family member or neighbour. Ask “R U OK?”, listen with care, and give them the time and space to share how they’re really going.

You don’t need to have all the answers. Sometimes, simply being present and listening is enough.

And remember, checking in shouldn’t be limited to one day. Let’s continue creating a culture where people feel supported, heard and connected.

Today is World Physiotherapy Day 💙

This year’s focus is cardiovascular disease and the important role physiotherapists play in helping people stay active, improve fitness and support better heart health. From personalised exercise programs to strength, balance and flexibility training, physiotherapy can help people move safely and maintain their independence and quality of life.

Today, we also want to recognise and thank our physiotherapy staff across Masonic Care WA for the amazing work they do every day. Your care, expertise and encouragement make a meaningful difference in supporting our residents and clients to stay active, confident and independent.

If you are living with cardiovascular disease, or are at risk, speak with a physiotherapist or health professional before starting or returning to exercise.

On 10 August, Middle Swan Residential Care community received an Honourable Mention in the Health & Aged Care Caterer category at the 2026 Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence in WA, alongside our catering partner Cater Care Australia.

Our CEO, Marie-Louise MacDonald, joined the Middle Swan team and Cater Care representatives at the awards ceremony to celebrate the recognition.

The award reflects more than the quality of the meals being served. It acknowledges the collaborative dining experience created by the Cater Care and Middle Swan teams, working together to provide residents with high-quality food, professional service and genuine care.

We’re proud to see the work happening every day at Middle Swan recognised on an industry level.

There’s something special about coming together over good food. 🍽️💛

Our residents recently enjoyed Cater Care’s Secrets from the Kitchen, a positive ageing program designed to bring people together through food, conversation and shared experiences.

This year’s Family Favourites theme featured an interactive cooking demonstration led by General Manager of Food Sean Anderson and Chef Amith, with residents treated to lemon and herb panko-crumbed chicken schnitzel, served with potato bake and chicken pan gravy, followed by raspberry cheesecake with marinated strawberries for dessert.

More than just a meal, moments like these help create connection, encourage participation and strengthen that all-important sense of belonging within our community.

A lovely afternoon of familiar flavours, good company and a few new kitchen secrets to take home. 👩‍🍳✨

This Aged Care Employee Day, our residents turned the tables and served the people who serve them every day. 🌭💛

Residents and their families came together to prepare a sausage sizzle for our staff, a simple but meaningful way of saying thank you for the care, kindness and dedication they receive each day.

It was a lovely moment of reciprocity, community and appreciation, reminding us that care goes both ways.

To all our aged care employees, thank you for everything you do. Your work makes a difference every single day.
