Seafood Industry Tasmania Seafood Industry Tasmania represents the interests of Tasmania's fishers, fish farmers and processors

The Tasmanian Seafood Industry Council (TSIC) is the peak body representing the interests of wild capture fishers, marine farmers and seafood processors in Tasmania. Tasmania is the largest producer of seafood by value in Australia and is a supplier of high quality fresh and frozen seafood produce to the 8 out of 10 Australians who buy seafood and to valuable export markets, principally in South-e

ast Asia. The Council works in conjunction with the industry sector groups to ensure that all sectors of industry are ecologically sustainable and make an ongoing economic contribution to the Tasmanian economy, particularly in regional areas. The activities of the Council are overseen by a Board that is elected biannually by TSIC members.

💙June is Men's Mental Health Awareness Month💙

This month is about encouraging open conversations, challenging stigma around help-seeking, and reminding men that reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Across Tasmania's seafood industry, we know the unique pressures that can come with working on and around the water.

SIT along with our industry partners, are proud to partner with Rural Alive & Well to deliver the Stay Afloat Tasmania Program, providing free, confidential, and practical mental health and wellbeing support tailored to our seafood communities.

A conversation can change everything. Check in. Reach out. You are not alone.

❤️Heart disease is Australia's number one killer.
🐟Eating seafood can help reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease up to 30%.
Here's why: seafood is rich in omega-3s, found in oily fish like salmon, sardines and mackerel. These lower arterial inflammation, reduce plaque build-up and improve circulatory function.

Two serves a week is around 200–300g.
A salmon fillet on Tuesday.
A tin of sardines on Saturday.

🌊 World Ocean Day 🌊

A healthy ocean supports so much of what we value in Tasmania, thriving marine ecosystems, abundant seafood, coastal communities, and the livelihoods of those who work on and around the water.

Today is an opportunity to reflect on the importance of understanding, respecting, and caring for our marine environment so future generations can continue to enjoy the benefits it provides.

For Tasmania's seafood industry, healthy oceans are fundamental to sustainable seafood production, marine biodiversity, and the long-term prosperity of our coastal community.
