Today we welcomed Debbie Smith of Deloraine House to our lodge rooms to receive a donation for their awesome work in our community, providing Christmas lunch to the lonely and unfortunate. This donation was possible due to the dedication of our members to fundraising and the support of the Tasmanian Masonic Benevolence Foundation, who matched our lodge contribution. Well done all masons involved!

Way to go Meander Lodge! Here is our WBro Scott Whiley handing over a $1500 donation to Debbie Smith of Deloraine House for their outstanding Christmas work they do for people doing it tough in the Meander Valley Community. The donation will go towards hampers for needy families and the Orphans Christmas Lunch which gives alone people a place to be on Christmas Day. Meander Lodge members pledged an initial $500 which was subsequently backed up with another $1000 from the Board of Benevolence. Great teamwork from all masons involved!!

We're thrilled to announce that our free shower facility has returned to the YMCA building in Kings Meadows, Launceston. A free laundry facility will also be coming very soon!

In partnership with the City of Launceston Official and supported by Freemasons Tasmania, this service provides those facing homelessness or financial hardships with a place to shower and do their washing.

The facility will be available to anyone who needs them from Mondays to Wednesdays, 9am to 11am. All towels and toiletries (and soon laundry supplies) are provided. There will also be a free continental breakfast, coffee, tea and Wi-Fi.

Brethren – You hear that lives of many families are put on hold when a family member becomes ill and recently Lodge Pembroke were made aware of two families in the Sorell Community who have and are facing this situation as a result of cancer. Thanks to the Wor Master who advised the Lodge of the present plight of the two families in this exact situation - Nicole Rusher , a single mother of two teenagers , who has been diagnosed with aggressive stage 4 cancer and Shane Brown, father of three is currently undergoing treatment for his fourth brain tumour removal.
It needs to be said that the our Wor Master John Sutton is assisting the principal organizer of this fund raiser and with this in mind John has volunteer his time to be a part of the organizing committee. As the Community of Sorell have come together to support the two families by organizing a major fund raiser occurring on August 6 and with that the local community response has been overwhelming. With support from all sections of the community, having items donated for auction or to give financial assistance. This has come about because the main driver of the response is that both families are facing extensive high medical costs now & ongoing into the future and also both having health prognosis which need support.
The Lodge Pembroke Executive & members discussed & agreed we would make a donation to the Rusher & Brown Family appeal of $500.00 and a number of brethren expressed they wished to make a personal donation as well.

The wheels of Freemasonry moved swiftly as after a suggestion was made from a Lodge member to approach Grand Lodge of Tasmania - Board of Benevolence Fund to request assistance on behalf of the Rusher & Brown Family. With that Brethren I can confirm the Board has agreed to give $1000 dollars consisting of two vouchers ($500 each), which will be presented by the Wor Master - $500 Woolworths Voucher to each family.

It’s great to acknowledge that one of the corner stone of Freemasonry - “Charity” is apparent at this time.
