On My Feet

On My Feet On My Feet takes a hand-up approach by supporting people experiencing homelessness to transition to self-sufficiency.

On My Feet empowers Australians at risk of or experiencing homelessness to achieve self-sufficiency through exercise, education, employment, and wellbeing—transforming lives with dignity, resilience, and real pathways out of disadvantage. We help people experiencing homelessness through exercise – walking and running – to build a community of support and a structure to help achieve their goal: to

get back on their feet. Our programs help people recover self-respect, a sense of purpose and self-sufficiency by building resilience through exercise and education. They offer structure, a community of support, achievable goals and a sense of control for when people are in a vulnerable position.

🌿 JOIN OUR FREE WEEKLY COMMUNITY WALKS!

Looking for a friendly, supportive way to stay active, improve your wellbeing, and connect with others?

Our On My Feet community walks are open to everyone — and we’d love you to join us!

📍 The Beacon, East Perth
🕖 Tuesdays – 7:00 AM
🕗 Thursdays – 8:00 AM

Even on the coldest mornings, we show up together — wrapped in our warm, striking orange beanies, a simple symbol of warmth, connection, and looking out for one another. More than just keeping us warm, they represent a safe, welcoming space where no one walks alone.

Yesterday’s walk was a beautiful reminder of what these mornings are all about — perfect weather, great company, and finishing with a well-earned coffee at Kinky Lizard . Along the way from The Beacon toward Optus Stadium, we were delighted to come across roving street performers in costume and on stilts, adding a fun and joyful moment to our morning and bringing plenty of smiles and laughter.

Each walk is around 45 minutes, followed by coffee and conversation — the perfect way to move your body, reset your mind, and feel part of a supportive community.

💙 We’d love to welcome more people next week!

📍 Meet at the front entrance of The Beacon
📩 For more info, DM us or email [email protected]

🧡💙 Something special happened on Sunday morning.

As Perth heads into winter, while most people were tucked up warm in bed, our On My Feet crew were out in the crisp cold at Burswood Park for the Masters Athletics Western Australia (MAWA) RRC & RWC Event — and what a morning it was.

A huge thank you to MAWA for their generous partnership and for providing complimentary entries for our participants. Your support of our community means everything.

Big love to Maya Arguelles-Reytiran & Joanna who ran our pop-up booth and had an incredible morning connecting with runners and the wider community — so many people curious, excited and inspired by what On My Feet is all about.

And on the course at Burswood Park — our particpants and peer mentors showed UP:
👟 Marty — completed his very first 10km ever. GO MARTY! 🎉
👟 Sophie, Jeff & Zach — smashing out 10km
👟 Sharon & Ulzii — powering through 15km
👟 Ollie McAlpine, Bernie & Kathleen Mc Quaide — going the full 25km, already deep in training for the Gold Coast Marathon next month.

Every distance. Every person. Grateful and proud of each and every one of you.

Want to be part of their journey to the Gold Coast finish line?

🧡 A beautiful Thursday morning walk with On My Feet as we stepped into the first week of winter together.
Participants from The Beacon and Common Ground enjoyed fresh Perth air, great conversation, and a special surprise along the way — dolphins at Claisebrook Cove 🐬✨
We finished the morning with coffee and connection at Kinky Lizard, a simple reminder of how powerful movement, community, and shared moments can be.
If you are experiencing homelessness or in a vulnerable situation, you’re welcome to join us next Thursday — meet at the front of The Beacon at 8am. Contact details in bio.

💙 MEN’S HEALTH MONTH | JUNE

June is recognised globally as Men’s Health Month—a time to raise awareness about preventable health issues and encourage men to prioritise both their physical and mental wellbeing.

At On My Feet, this isn’t something we focus on for just one week or one month.
It’s what we do every week.

Throughout June—and across the year—our program supports men and women experiencing homelessness and social isolation through structured movement sessions, strength training, and community connection.

This week, our participants from The Beacon The Salvation Army Australia joined our regular 7am Tuesday morning walk despite the cold and rain, followed by our weekly strength training session at Wellington Square.

These sessions do more than improve physical fitness. They help build routine, confidence, resilience, social connection, and overall wellbeing.

Last month, we also completed our 8-week Men’s Empowerment Program. Evaluation results and participant feedback showed measurable improvements in both physical and psychological wellbeing, reinforcing the positive impact that structured support, movement, and community can have on health outcomes.

For many people, better health starts with a simple step: showing up, connecting with others, and being part of a supportive community.

At On My Feet, we’re not just talking about men’s health this month. We’re actively supporting it through meaningful, consistent programs that build health, connection, and confidence.

Experiencing homelessness or social isolation?
Join us for a walk, run, or strength session. Our programs are free, welcoming, and designed to help people build health, confidence, connection, and community.

💙 EOFY is almost here — a wonderful opportunity to make a real difference while maximising your tax deduction.

As we approach the end of the financial year, we're inviting our community to support people experiencing homelessness through a tax-deductible donation to On My Feet.

Your contribution helps fund our 6-month Footsteps Program, which combines physical activity, mentoring, education, and employment support to help participants build confidence, wellbeing, connection, and a pathway toward greater independence.

Every donation helps provide:

👟 Training gear for participants
🤝 Volunteer and mentor support
📚 Educational workshops and program materials
🏃 Community events and activities
☕ Celebratory breakfasts that celebrate achievements and milestones

We see firsthand how routine, connection, and belonging can transform lives. Through the support of our community, participants gain the strength, confidence, and social connections needed to create lasting change.

On My Feet Ltd is a registered Australian charity and Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) (ABN: 42 174 743 623), meaning all donations over $2 are tax-deductible and receipts are issued for every contribution.

If you've been considering making a charitable donation this year, EOFY is the perfect time to do so. Every gift, no matter the size, helps create opportunities for people to move forward with hope, dignity, and purpose.

Individual donations can be made directly through our donation page at https://www.onmyfeet.org.au/donation.

If you are considering a larger contribution, a major gift, workplace giving initiative, sponsorship, or partnership opportunity, we would love to hear from you. Please contact us at [email protected] to discuss how your support can create an even greater impact.

Thank you for helping us put more feet on the path to a brighter future.

Sharing Our Story at Mill Point Rotary Club

Our very own Kath Mc Quaide recently had the privilege of presenting at the Mill Point Rotary Club alongside one of our dedicated participants — and now proud On My Feet employee — Ollie McAlpine.

The presentation provided an opportunity to share the story behind On My Feet, including our purpose, journey, and the evidence-based programs that sit at the heart of our work supporting people experiencing homelessness and vulnerability.

Kath spoke about the structure and impact of our programs, which combine physical activity, mentoring, and community connection to create measurable outcomes across both physical and mental wellbeing.

One of the most powerful moments of the evening was hearing Ollie share his personal journey and the role On My Feet has played in supporting his transformation. His story deeply moved the room, with many Rotarians wiping away tears, congratulating Ollie on his progress, and speaking with Kath afterwards about ways to help create even more positive change in the future.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Mill Point Rotary Club for the invitation and the opportunity to share our work and impact with your members.

Opportunities like these help us continue building awareness, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring more people understand the important role community-based programs play in supporting long-term change.

We would also love to connect with other Rotary Clubs, corporates, and community organisations interested in learning more about our work and impact.

If your organisation would like to explore how your support or donation can help On My Feet, please contact Kath at [email protected]

A beautiful week of connection, movement, and community in Perth

Our Tuesday morning walking group from The Beacon brought people together to start the day with fresh air, conversation, and coffee — building connection and belonging one step at a time.

In the evening, we came together again at Wellington Square for a powerful strength and conditioning session filled with energy, effort, and support.
These sessions continue to show what community looks like in action — simple, consistent, and life-changing.

Last week, On My Feet was proud to join the incredible team at PROSH UWA for a special National Volunteer Week celebration marking PROSH’s 95th year and the impact of this year’s student-led campaign. 🎉

We are incredibly grateful to have been selected as one of PROSH UWA’s two charity partners during this milestone year. The evening brought together volunteers, students, and community organisations to celebrate a long-standing tradition of generosity, leadership, and community connection.

One of the highlights of the night was the presentation of a cheque for $14,469 raised through this year’s campaign in support of On My Feet. We are sincerely thankful for this amazing contribution and honoured to be part of such a significant year in PROSH history.

Representing On My Feet on the night were two of our inspiring participants, Ollie and Bernie, with Ollie courageously sharing part of his recovery journey and how On My Feet has supported him along the way. ❤️

Our connection with the The University of Western Australia community is something we deeply value. Through our partnership with UWA’s Medical School, third-year medical students complete their 18-month community service placements with On My Feet — supporting our participants at exercise sessions, workshops, Bunnings sausage sizzles, and fundraising events.

What continues to stand out is the energy, generosity, and maturity of the students involved. They are thoughtful, engaged, and genuinely committed to creating positive change in the community.

The partnership with PROSH UWA and UWA Student Guild has been meaningful, inspiring, and full of energy — from creative student-led activations across Perth to shared moments during our training sessions.

Thank you, PROSH UWA, for your support, passion, and commitment to making a difference for people experiencing homelessness.
