šŸƒā€ā™€ļøLittle fingers and treadmills don’t mix! Children are inquisitive and don’t often understand the risks associated with treadmills, especially friction burns.

These injuries can happen quickly, so it’s important to remember these safety tips:
• Unplug the treadmill when not in use
• Place treadmills in rooms where you can close the door and remove access
• Supervise children when exercise equipment is being used
• Teach older children that treadmills are not toys

šŸ›“Scooters - including push scooters and eScooters are a fun and popular way for children and adults to get around. However, falls can lead to painful friction burns, even without a collision.

Riders should be wearing enclosed shoes, protective gear (including helmets), and long sleeves during every trip.

Did you know the delivery temperature of hot water in your home should be set to a maximum of 50°C?

Setting your hot water to 50°C can significantly reduce the severity of burns, especially for children and older adults.

šŸµ Did you know?
Hot food and drinks are the most common cause of burns and scalds in children.

Help reduce the risk by practising these simple safety steps at home:
• Keep all hot drinks and foods well out of children’s reach.
• Never hold a baby or young child while drinking a hot beverage.
• Use reusable travel mugs with secure lids, as the smaller opening can reduce the risk of spills and serious burns.

We had a great day at the National Burns Awareness education stand at Perth Children’s Hospital.

Freddy the Fire Truck and our friend Mars the Dog were a big hit, and it was fantastic to see so many families stopping by to learn about burn injury prevention and first aid.

A special shout out to Michelle for bringing the day together, and to the FWF, Burns Service team and Kidsafe WA for coming along to support 🩵🧔
