"I would rather have our education systems boost our youngsters’ confidence, creativity, and authenticity so that the next generation will be mentally and emotionally resilient, receptive, and able to ride and glide with the currents of that time"- DJKR

During our Duechen Ngazom celebration at the centre today, we reflected on the profound importance of questioning, curiosity, and the pursuit of wisdom, inspired by the following words:

Actually, the most important part of studying is to ask questions about
everything. Actually, getting answers is not that important. But questioning is
very important for life- DJKR

Duechen Ngazom Celebration – 30 & 31 May 2026

To celebrate Duechen Ngazom on 30–31 May 2026, commemorating the auspicious convergence of the five enlightened deeds of the Buddha—his conception, birth, victory over Mara, enlightenment, and parinirvana—we organised a special program for our children and families.

As part of the celebration, we visited a Sri Lankan Buddhist temple, where the children had the opportunity to learn about and experience our Theravadan Buddhist tradition. Together, we offered prayers and conducted a session beneath a sacred Bodhi tree imported from Sri Lanka, believed to be an offspring of the original Bodhi tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment.

The children also watched educational videos on the life story of the Buddha and participated in class activities and learning sessions. At the same time, parents gathered to practise Drolchog (Tara Puja) and participate in the Tersul ritual.

At No Name School, we believe that every child deserves to feel heard, understood, supported, and genuinely cared for with compassion and kindness. We recognise that emotional and mental wellbeing play a deeply important role in a child’s confidence, learning, growth, and overall development. We warmly encourage parents to reach out in confidence should they feel their child may benefit from counselling support, guidance, or simply a safe and understanding space to be heard.

For now, this counselling support service will be available exclusively to No Name School children, families, and registered members of the community, and will be provided completely free of charge.

We sincerely hope that parents and families will make meaningful use of this support for the wellbeing and benefit of their children. We are confident that Mrs. Tenzin Zangmo’s care, presence, and professional guidance will be a valuable support to our school community, and we are deeply grateful to have her as part of the No Name School family 🌸

Today, we were happy to welcome a new batch of students aged 13–15 years to our Friday programme at No Name School.

Our classes will be held every Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM

This evening, we also conducted an induction and orientation session with both parents and students, where we shared the vision and aspirations of the school, our learning approach, and the importance of collective support and participation in sustaining this journey together.

We are deeply grateful for the trust, encouragement, and presence of our families as we continue building this learning community together .

“I want to see our children learn how to grow their own vegetables. Through
that, they can learn so much biology, ecology, physics and chemistry. Having
this skill is also very practically important for future food security and even national security, because our children need to be prepared for a time when food supply lines will be disrupted” - DJKR

Today, on 2nd May 2026, we resumed our journey, beginning Term 2 of Semester 1 after a short break, and warmly welcomed a new batch of students.

By a beautiful coincidence, it is also Teacher’s Day in Bhutan. In our own simple way, we honoured our teachers of past, present, and emerging and our educators, whose gentle guidance shapes both minds and hearts. 🙏

“We can teach our children that morality is so important, and eventually we can teach them that we should not be stuck with morality. In fact, this is where we have to be a little dangerous. As a Buddhist, I have to say that morality is never in the driver's seat. The driver's seat should be occupied by wisdom, and compassion should be next to the driver. Morality sits behind in the luggage compartment”.-DJKR

A former student, Pema Sonam Rigsel, who graduated last semester after turning 13 years, has written a quiet, heartfelt poem about No Name School and shared it with his educators. In his words linger memories, belonging, and the gentle imprint of a place that shaped not just his learning, but his heart.

We need to see education as brainwashing so that we understand Buddhist education as almost a necessary evil that we have to do. It's as if we really shouldn't be educating these children, but there's no choice. We have to do it because if we don't, then Instagram and Facebook and Jeff Bezos and Amazon or someone else will do it- DJKR

And beyond that, education should promote the basic value of being human,
which can be through teaching kids how to share, where the water comes from,
and questioning the very definition of profit. Walking in a forest could be
considered as profit, having good fun is profit. These are the kinds of ways we
can start to reshape the purpose, values, meaning, and goals of education- DJKR

A beautiful day of learning beyond the classroom 🌼 Our 6–7 years group enjoyed their excursion at Whiteman Park today on 4/4/26.
