Horse Racing Kills!

Join us to protest the Lark Hill Cup on the 26th April outside the Lark Hill Racetrack.

Rockingham Council controversially sponsored the new Lark Hill Cup despite going against their own event policies. We spoke up for the horses at the council meetings and in emails, it's now time to stand up for them in person.

Horses endure whips, tongue ties and bits, forced to race beyond their limits, with an on-track fatality every two days, and thousands more horses sent to knackeries annually across Australia, it's time to end the animal cruelty and ban horse racing.

Please dress smart-casual - dressing up is encouraged.

Come prepared for the weather - bring a hat, sunscreen or a rain jacket/umbrella depending on forecast. We will be there come rain or shine.

Signs and banners provided.

The Western Trilogy is the World's only tri-code slot race series glorifying the exploitation of greyhounds, standardbred and thoroughbred horses.

There will be three days of protests against this animal exploitation from Thursday to Saturday as we stand together to say entertainment and gambling is no excuse for animal abuse.

Racing pushes animals beyond their limits, resulting in injury, illness, physical and psychological distress, discomfort, and death. It's cruel, it's barbaric and it's time it was banned.

Join us to make a stand against this animal cruelty.

We will be joining the Sandgroper protest on Thursday at 5PM outside Cannington Greyhound track.

Join us, () and on Friday at 5pm outside Gloucester Park, East Perth for the harness racing protest and on Saturday outside Ascot from 2pm - 4pm.

Cannington Racetrack is back in operation after its brief closure due to a spate of on-track deaths. Whilst closed, races were moved to Mandurah, during this period another 3 dogs died there, many more were injured. Despite the industry declaring a commitment to the best animal welfare practices, dogs continue to get injured and killed. Where there is exploitation there is always harm.

Free the Hounds will be protesting outside the Perth Cup at Cannington on 14th March to call for an end to greyhound racing in our state.

With the ongoing government inquiry into greyhound racing in WA we are closer than we have ever been to seeing an end, but we need to keep turning up to demonstrate our opposition.

Let's make this the biggest anti-greyhound racing protest Perth has ever seen!

This morning activists visited Linley Valley Pork in Wooroloo, near Perth, to bear witness to pigs arriving to be slaughtered.

At Linley Valley slaughterhouse they use horrifying CO2 gas chambers. Footage collected by inside similar gas chambers showed pigs thrashing around in distress as the gas burnt their respiratory tracts before falling unconscious.

These babies were most likely raised in intensive indoor farms, over 90% of pigs in Australia are. They may never have seen the sky, or felt the wind on their face until they were crammed into the death truck for their fatal journey.

Activists captured the final day of these individuals, meeting them in a moment of kindness before they entered the violent death facility.

A new Animal Save chapter will be launching in Perth soon. Consider joining to bear witness, capture footage to share the story of the individuals, the real faces of the intangible numbers of animals killed at these facilities.

Cannington Deathtrack has been shut down after... just another night at the dogs.

Two greyhounds were killed, another two suffered serious injuries, which, lets face it, could also be a death sentence. This comes after 3 dogs being killed on track in one night last month.
It's not an exceptional incident, it's just business as usual. However GreyhoundsWA is in the spotlight thanks to the ongoing inquiry and their social license is in tatters.

It would be nice to celebrate, however the races have simply been moved to Mandurah deathtrack instead. Races won't be open to the public but people will still be betting on their lives at the TAB. Dogs will still be exploited, injured and killed.

Watch Free the Hounds socials to keep an eye on track deaths and injuries. Share their posts, send emails to your MP. We have to keep the pressure on until we see it banned in WA.
