🌟 ISAA Conference & AGM 2025 – A Resounding Success! 🌟

Over the past two days, principals, educators, and leaders from Islamic schools across Australia gathered at Australian Islamic College, Kewdale for the ISAA Conference & AGM held on 14 & 15 August 2025.

The event was officially opened by Br. Abdullah Khan OAM, President of ISAA and CEO & Executive Principal of Australian Islamic College, who welcomed all delegates with a reminder of the importance of unity, collaboration, and vision in strengthening the Islamic education sector.

From insightful keynote sessions on AI, technology, and education, to discussions on leadership, sector challenges, and rethinking assessment in Australia — the conference was filled with learning, collaboration, and inspiration.

Key highlights included:

💡 Engaging sessions from local and international speakers, including:
- Ms Elma Ruth Harder on the Sakinah Circle journey in Canada
- Mr Jared Cooney Harvath on the impact of AI and technology on learning
- Mr Tamjid Aijazi on AI-driven solutions for school cybersecurity
- Mr Osman Karolia on challenges & opportunities for the Islamic school sector

🎉 Launch of AIC’s 40th Anniversary celebrations

🤝 Strengthened networks between member schools nationwide

Br. Abdullah Khan, the President of the Islamic Schools Association of Australia, presented the history of Islam and Islamic schools in Australia, sharing our achievements, challenges, and the exciting opportunities ahead. Keynotes emphasized the vital traits of effective leadership, including humility, compassion, servitude, integrity, and competency.

Last week, Br Fazeel Arain, President of Islamic Schools Association of Australia VIC Branch, and Br Mohammad Taksim, General Secretary of ISAA, represented the Islamic schooling sector on behalf of ISAA at the ISA National Consultative Group meeting in Melbourne. The meeting was a fantastic opportunity to highlight critical issues facing Islamic schools today.

Independent Schools Australia’s National Consultative Group brought together voices from across our diverse school landscape to address pressing challenges such as student wellbeing, teacher shortages—especially in rural and regional areas—and plans for future advocacy.

It was inspiring to witness our sector’s shared passion for supporting students, families, and ensuring a strong education system for all.

Whether it’s meeting the increasing demand for independent schools or bridging the gap between independent and public schooling, our goal remains simple: helping all kids thrive.
