Umpire Leadership Group
A small Umpire Leadership Group has recently been established to assist as a sounding board and provide operational support across a range of umpiring matters and initiatives.
The group includes representation from both metropolitan and regional areas, ensuring broader perspectives and experiences are incorporated into discussions and planning.
The purpose of the group is to strengthen communication, support consistency, assist with leadership development, and contribute positively to the overall function and direction of umpiring within WA.
Development Focus
A continued development focus remains on strike zone consistency, which continues to be one of the most scrutinised areas of officiating by players, coaches, and spectators.
Communication to the umpiring group has reinforced the importance of continual skill development, preparation, and maintaining standards through regular practice and self-assessment.
Closing
Overall, umpiring operations continue to progress positively across the winter period, with ongoing work being undertaken around appointments, development, communication, and leadership support structures.
