A non-profit organisation dedicated to the preservation of the African Painted Dog.

Established in 2003 in Australia, we support the conservation of the African Painted dog (or Painted Wolf). We focus on threat prevention, and support 7 projects in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Zambia. 100 years ago, there were 500,000 Painted Dogs across Africa, and today only approximately 7,000 exist. We provide resources and facilities to support research, treatment and care of sick and injured Painted Dogs, rehabilitation of such dogs to be released back into the wild, education of the wider community on Painted Dogs and related wildlife issues We employ Anti-poaching Teams to remove the deadly wire snares from the bush, provide vehicles and motorbikes, radiotracking equipment, education supplies and local employment initiatives.

This time 23 years ago Painted Dog Conservation Inc was officially registered as an Australian charity! From our inception we have grown from supporting one project- Painted Dog Conservation in Zimbabwe, to supporting 9 projects in total across Southern Africa, including African Wildlife Conservation Fund , Endangered Wildlife Trust , Zambian Carnivore Programme , Conservation South Luangwa - CSL , Shinganda Wildlife Wilderness Chipembele Wildlife Education Trust - CWET The Kevin Richardson Foundation and a new partner- to be announced soon! We have raised over $4 million Australian dollars during this time, supporting the frontline work of the projects and saving our beloved Painted Dogs. We have developed amazing partnerships and relationships and thank you to our members, supporters and patrons for making this all possible!

We are excited to now have our very first Painted Dog Conservation Inc vehicle in South Africa to help us support the work of our existing- and future supported projects and partnerships across Southern Africa.

In exciting news we met with the team from Contemplate Wild here in Kruger National Park- Grant, Ankia and Ethan who do amazing work monitoring the painted dog packs using cutting edge technology and data science.

We had a great discussion about future collaboration 😀

Today we met up with Adam and Jilly from at Skukuza. Our Chairman John first met them in Zambia, whilst they were participating in the Africa Rally, raising funds for our supported project Painted Dog Conservation in Zimbabwe.

We discussed further potential collaborations to save our beloved painted dogs!

Effective conservation is all about partnerships. It was great to catch up with Miguel and Sarah from Kruger Gate Hotel , who had previously generously supported our recent online raffle of the 13 night Safari to Africa.

We presented them with a bottle of PAINTED Wolf Wines as a token of appreciation.

For those who are coming to Kruger National Park, we highly recommend staying at the stunning Kruger Gate Hotel , right at the entry to the park via the Paul Kruger Gate.

What fantastic news from our supported project Painted Dog Conservation in Zimbabwe! The Umkhonto pack puppies have finally made an appearance- all 15 of them! This is why the work of PDC is so vital, and what a real difference your support can make to save a species! We were able to donate $37,000 from our recent online raffle to PDC specifically for the 24/7 intensive monitoring of this pack who had denned near the main road. The project have also installed wildlife crossing signs and speed humps to slow down traffic and prevent road kills. Both our Chairman and Vice -Chairman were recently in Zimbabwe and saw firsthand the commitment and dedication of those on the frontline.
