The artwork featured across our 2026 Madalah Ball merchandise tells a powerful story, brought to life by Bennell from Scotch College. ✨

At the 2026 Madalah Ball, Bennell shared the story behind his artwork with guests, offering a personal insight into the meaning, inspiration and cultural significance woven throughout the design.

“Across the boodja, Woordawoort Keiny dances lightly through the air, guiding the eye towards places where fresh water rests. The waterhole symbols represent places of life, connection and gathering, while the reeds reflect the lakes and ponds that sustain plants, animals and people. The navy blue and pink dots trace the dragonfly’s bidi (path) as it moves between water sources, capturing the energy and movement of Woordawoort Keiny.”

We’re incredibly proud to showcase Bennell’s artwork through our 2026 Madalah Ball merchandise and thank him for sharing his story and creativity with our community. 💙

The 2026 Madalah Ball wouldn’t have been the same without our incredible MCs, Leo Stanley and Daithi Wade.

As former Madalah secondary students, current tertiary scholars, proud leaders from Broome, and lifelong friends who have shared this journey together since kindergarten, Leo and Daithi brought something truly special to the stage.

From the moment they walked out, they had the room hooked. Their humour, confidence and genuine friendship shone through all night, making everyone feel relaxed, engaged and part of the celebration.

They had us laughing with stories about growing up together, boarding school life, “controversial boarding house antics”, and even a Year 6 student council election that Leo is clearly still not over. 😂

But what made them such incredible MCs wasn’t just the laughs. It was the fact that they are living proof of what Madalah is all about.

Both Leo and Daithi spoke about leaving home at a young age to pursue educational opportunities, the challenges that came with that, and the opportunities that followed. Hearing them share their journeys while standing in front of a room full of supporters, students, partners and alumni was a powerful reminder of why nights like this matter.

Leo and Daithi, thank you for bringing your energy, personality and passion to the 2026 Madalah Ball. Thank you for sharing your stories, making us laugh and reminding everyone in the room why investing in young people and education matters.

You did an incredible job, and we couldn’t have asked for a better duo to guide us through the evening. 💙👏

A fitting finale to our 2026 Madalah Ball. ✨

Featuring members of the Madalah Student Council and friends, ‘Where Is The Love’ brought students together for a memorable performance that had guests singing and clapping along.

After countless hours of rehearsals and preparation, our students delivered their own rendition of Inkabee’s Triple J Like A Version cover of Where Is The Love.

We couldn’t be prouder of the dedication, teamwork and commitment that went into bringing this performance to life. It was a fun, uplifting and heartfelt moment, and the perfect performance to close an incredible evening.

Thank you to all the students involved for making it such a special finale to the 2026 Madalah Ball. 💙

Two inspiring student leaders took to the stage at our 2026 Madalah Ball. ✨

William from Wesley College and Jada Dimer from Iona Presentation College, Head Boy and Head Girl of the Madalah Student Council, shared powerful and deeply personal reflections on their Madalah journeys.

Speaking about the experiences that have shaped them and the impact of their leadership roles, they offered guests an authentic insight into the resilience, growth and determination of Madalah students.

Jada reflected on the importance of connection and belonging, sharing that “Madalah became more than just a program I was a part of. It became my home.”

William spoke passionately about the transformative impact of education and support, reminding us that “Madalah is more than an opportunity for a better education; it’s an opportunity for all students to become the best version of themselves.”

We are incredibly proud of William and Jada for speaking with such honesty and confidence. Their reflections were a powerful reminder of the strength of our student community and the opportunities made possible through education, leadership and connection. 💙

One of the evening’s most powerful performances came from Sachjein of Aquinas College, who presented Still Deadly (...and Still Not What You Think) at our 2026 Madalah Ball. ✨

Drawing inspiration from this year’s NAIDOC Week theme, Sachjein’s original poem captivated guests with its honesty, depth and powerful message.

We are incredibly proud of Sachjein for sharing his voice, creativity and talent, making this a memorable part of the evening. 💙

Photos from our 2026 Madalah Ball. ✨

Guests heard from Year 7 students Jakarnah from St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School and Zakyda from Guildford Grammar School, who shared their experiences and aspirations.

The room was also inspired by guest speaker Dan Barnes, Indigenous Coordinator at Wesley College, who spoke about supporting Indigenous students and creating opportunities for future generations.

Thank you to Jakarnah and Zakyda for their heartfelt reflections on their Madalah journeys, providing an inspiring perspective on the opportunities and support that have shaped their educational pathways.

We also thank Dan Barnes for speaking about the transformative impact of education, the strength of the Madalah community, and his dedication to empowering students to achieve their goals.

Together, their words were a powerful reminder of the opportunities, growth and connections that make the Madalah journey so meaningful. 💙

Capturing moments from ‘Honey Bee’ and ‘Lost Boy’, powerful performances by students from Wesley College at the 2026 Madalah Ball. ✨

‘Honey Bee’ is a storytelling dance about colonisation. Prior to colonisation, Australia was home to the native stingless bee. Following colonisation, European settlers introduced their own bee species with a sting. The dance depicts hunters on Country encountering the European bee for the first time, while also showcasing how different language groups traditionally communicated with one another.

The performance then transitioned into ‘Lost Boy’, a story about leadership. Hunters venture out at night, become lost and fall asleep. They are then confronted by bad spirits before good spirits arrive to protect them.

Thank you to the students for sharing these important stories and giving our guests the opportunity to experience culture through dance and storytelling. Your performances were a powerful part of the evening and something you should be so proud of. 💙

From student to educator, Simon Hayward’s journey is a powerful example of what’s possible when opportunity, determination and community come together. 💙

At the 2026 Madalah Ball, we were proud to share Simon’s story, from his upbringing and experiences as a secondary and tertiary student supported through the Madalah program, to now working as an educator in one of our partner schools. His journey has truly come full circle.

Thank you, Simon, for sharing your story so openly and authentically. Your journey is an inspiration to the next generation of Madalah students and a testament to the lasting impact of education.

A huge thank you to Cassie Silver for bringing Simon’s story to life and helping us share its impact with our community.
