🛡️ Michelle is a security officer working in a Victorian hospital.

After being injured in a serious incident at work, Michelle spent time away from work before facing the difficult process of returning to her job.

Experiences like Michelle’s are not uncommon for workers across Victorian hospitals. Returning to work after an injury can be challenging, and workers shouldn’t have to navigate that process alone.

Thank you, Michelle, for sharing your story and speaking openly about the challenges workers can face when returning to work.

🗞️ HWU has been working directly with workers at Calvary Balmoral Grove to raise serious concerns about repeated flooding, mould and the impact these issues are having on the workplace.

Organisers have been supporting workers, and pushing for action to make sure the site is safe for both staff and residents.

WorkSafe is now monitoring the site, and we’ll continue backing workers to make sure these issues are properly addressed.

🚨 ACL WORKERS HAVE OVERWHELMINGLY VOTED NO AND REJECTED MANAGEMENT’S EBA OFFER.

ACL workers have sent management a clear message: a pathetic 1% pay offer and cuts to conditions are not good enough.

This result shows what workers can achieve when we stand together, but the campaign isn’t over.

Management now needs to come back to the bargaining table with a serious offer.

❌ACL workers VOTE NO to their proposed Enterprise Agreement.

Australian Clinical Labs is trying to force through a four-year agreement with a pathetic 1% pay offer, while inflation is running at 4%.

This agreement would see your pay and conditions go backwards and lock pathology workers into a terrible deal for the next four years.

👏 Cabrini workers have voted YES to their new EBA!

Our new three-year Enterprise Agreement has now been endorsed by workers, with 91% voting YES, and delivers pay rises of up to 18%, while ensuring Cabrini employees will be paid at the same rates as the Victorian public sector by the end of the agreement.

Here’s what HWU members have won:

📈 Increased allowances, including a new Lead Apron Allowance and higher travel allowances.

⏰ Better conditions, including improved access to overtime and a four-hour minimum engagement for casual employees.

🏥 Improved leave entitlements, including earlier access to long service leave and the ability to use personal leave for medical appointments.

🧑‍⚕️ Improved classification structures to better recognise workers’ skills and responsibilities.

These wins are the result of a year-of-organising from an exceptional team of new delegates!
