We operate kitchens in Melbourne and Brisbane where our chefs and volunteers cook millions of meals a year. FareShare is a charity that has been cooking free, nutritious meals for people doing it tough since 2001. We believe that every Australian deserves a nutritious meal, regardless of their circumstances or location. FareShare operates Australia’s largest non-profit kitchens in Melbourne and Br

isbane where chefs and volunteers work hand in hand to cook the best possible meal for every person in need. Each year FareShare transforms rescued, donated and our homegrown food into millions of delicious, healthy meals that feed dignity and wellbeing for Australians experiencing hardship. A homestyle meal shows that somebody cares and has an immediate impact. Our healthy meals are given away free to frontline charities such as soup vans, homeless shelters, women’s refuges and community food banks. The demand for meal relief has never been higher with the soaring cost of living, frequent natural disasters and the lingering effects of the pandemic hurting millions of Australians. As a charity we rely on the generosity of philanthropic foundations, businesses and individual donors. When you support FareShare, you are not just feeding someone in need. You are giving them a ready-to-eat meal which takes the worry out of going hungry and the stress out of cooking. Visit us for more https://www.fareshare.net.au/

Today is National Sorry Day. A day that exists so we can acknowledge and reflect on what was historically done to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families and the wounds that are still healing.

The Stolen Generations are not just a chapter in the history books of Australia. They are Elders still alive today who are piecing their lives and family histories back together and it is critical that we remember this, as we reflect on the past, present and what the future will look like for all communities in Australia.

Today is about recognising the pain, suffering and ongoing hurt and harm that our past continues to have on First Nations peoples.

Tomorrow marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week and how we can move towards reconciliation, but today we pause, reflect and honour the children who didn’t come home.

In April, we harvested 20,784 kg of vegetables from our farms! 🎃

It was also our biggest harvest month ever at Baguley, with a massive 18,934 kg. Seriously amazing work from everyone involved. All those kilos going towards nutrious meals for those in need.

We couldn't cook millions of meals for people in need every year without the hard work of our kitchen volunteers. Chopping, stirring, wrapping and packing — every step is essential to getting nutritious meals onto the plates of those who need them most. Our vollies put love into every single meal they help create, and it truly shows. So, thank you to our kitchen volunteers for their tireless work and the warmth they bring to everything they do.

We couldn’t grow thousands of kgs of vegetables on our FareShare farms every year without the hard work of our volunteers. Weeding might not be glamorous — but it's what helps our veggies thrive. So, thank you to our volunteers for their tireless work.

"I love getting into the garden as I don't have a vegetable garden of my own. It's great that FareShare provides food for people in need. I love the social side of volunteering, that it's physical work outside and I love getting my hands in the ground."
— Andrea, FareShare Garden volunteer of 8 years

"I like making a contribution to an organisation that is doing something worthwhile. It's a place I'm very happy to volunteer as I like being outside and doing something physical."
— Peter, FareShare Garden volunteer of 6 years
