Every week, the SecondBite-supported food relief hub at King's Community Care (CC) helps feed 550 – 600 people in need from the southern part of QLD’s Gold Coast.

One of those people is Wendy, a mother to a blended family of 9 children, who reached out to Kings CC when her health issues and financial troubles made it extremely difficult for her to support her family.

Kings CC was able to provide a range of services and a supportive community, not just food relief.

‘For many people this support is the difference between putting food on the table or going without,’ says Kings CC Executive Manager Shirley Sykes.

‘There’s a lot of people who are right on the breadline in the sense of they could be living somewhere, but they can pay rent or eat, they can’t do both.’

Our newest 17.1-tonne Passionfruit truck is helping us deliver up to 85,500 kgs of free, nutritious food (the equivalent of 171,000 meals) every week to metro and regional partners and charities, including Albury Wodonga FoodShare 🚚

It’s one of the many ways we’re helping get more good food where it’s needed most and supporting local communities with perfectly good surplus food.

🏆 Dot Day – Sunbury Neighbourhood Kitchen Inc, VIC
Dot, 87 years young, has become a cornerstone of the neighbourhood kitchen, dedicating more than 13 years to preparing meals, packing grocery bags, serving community dinners and helping ensure people experiencing hardship have access to nutritious food.

🏆 Monica Chehab – Sydney City Salvos, NSW
Each week, Monica leads the preparation of around 350 meals, coordinates volunteers and ensures people experiencing hardship have access to a nutritious meal in a welcoming environment.

🏆 Robert Mearns – Fishers of Men, QLD
Bobby co-founded Fishers of Men which delivers approximately 1,000 meals a week, alongside food parcels, clothing and practical support for people doing it tough.

🏆 Eman Rahim – Heart & Soul Group, SA
Eman has built one of South Australia's largest food relief organisations, supporting more than 4,000 people every week.

🏆 Alanagh Godderidge – Moving Food (Motion by the Ocean Inc.), WA
Alanagh helped establish the Moving Food program, a vital community service connecting surplus food with local families, seniors, refugees and school communities across Perth's northern suburbs.
