Watsonia Neighbourhood House Watsonia Neighbourhood House provides learning opportunities, as well as social, recreational and mutual support activities.

The House is governed by a volunteer committee of governance and has 6 part time staff. The house also has many volunteers who work in the areas of administration, social group facilitation and in the community garden. On Tuesday night we gathered around the fire in our community garden to celebrate our annual Winter Solstice event, and what a wonderful evening it was!
With more than 40 people attending, we were thrilled to surpass last year's numbers and welcome so many community members to share in the occasion.

As the sun set, the garden came alive with sparkling lights, music, conversation, and the warmth of community connection. It was lovely to see people chatting around the fire, meeting new faces, and enjoying the atmosphere together.
A special welcome to everyone who attended a Watsonia Neighbourhood House event for the very first time. We hope you felt right at home and look forward to seeing you again soon.

Thank you to our regular community members who continue to support our events, our wonderful volunteers who helped make the evening run smoothly, and a special thank you to Liz and Rochelle for the thoughtful and delicious desserts they generously brought along.

We'd also like to thank the councillors who attended and experienced firsthand the warmth, kindness, and community spirit that makes Watsonia Neighbourhood House such a special place.

During this last week of term, we've had the pleasure of welcoming Tyson to Watsonia Neighbourhood House for his work experience placement.
If you're noticing a family resemblance, that's because Tyson is the son of our very own Shannon! 😊

Over the week, Tyson has thrown himself into all sorts of activities around the House. He has assisted with our art groups, helped set up for our Winter Solstice event, worked in the kitchen, tried his hand at gardening, and even created his very own tote bag with our Boomerang Bags group.
No matter the task, Tyson approached it with enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and a willingness to give everything a go. We were also lucky enough to celebrate a special milestone while he was with us his 16th birthday! 🎉🥳 It was wonderful to share the occasion with him and make his week at the House even more memorable.

We've thoroughly enjoyed having Tyson with us and feel very fortunate to have gotten to know him over the past week. His friendly nature, willingness to help, and eagerness to learn have made him a fantastic addition to our community.
Thank you for choosing Watsonia Neighbourhood House for your work experience, Tyson. You've been an absolute asset to our team and a pleasure to have around. We wish you all the very best for the future we all know whatever you decide to do you will be a great success.

When you work at Watsonia Neighbourhood House, you sometimes find yourself doing jobs you never expected!
On Tuesday morning, Lucie rolled up her sleeves and got stuck into repairing our wheelbarrow, making sure it's ready for our volunteer gardeners when they return next term.

Our garden is always growing, and there's plenty to do. If you've ever thought about getting involved, we'd love to welcome you to our Busy Bee Gardeners Group.
You don't need to be a gardening expert just bring your enthusiasm, willingness to help, and love of being outdoors. It's a wonderful way to learn new skills, meet people, and contribute to our thriving community garden.

This isn't a high-intensity workout class. Instead, it's a gentle, safe, and effective program designed specifically for seniors, focusing on:

After many years, we've recently moved our Community Lunch from the lounge room and into the Banyule Room, giving us a little more space to spread out, sit around tables together, and enjoy each other's company.

The change has been working wonderfully.
It has been so lovely to see everyone chatting, laughing, and connecting over a shared meal in a comfortable and welcoming space.

This week we enjoyed a delicious butter bean curry, which was a big hit with our lunch guests!

Community Lunch is about so much more than food, it's about friendship, conversation, and bringing people together. We're loving the atmosphere in our new space and look forward to many more lunches filled with connection and good company.
