Police are appealing for assistance to locate a man missing from Kew.

Timothy left a care facility in Kew East at 9am on Monday 15 June, before attending a store at Kew Junction at around 10am.

The 53-year-old was last seen in a store in Docklands at 7.30pm that night, and has not been seen or heard from since.

Police hold concerns for Timothy’s welfare as he lives with a dementia, and this is out of character.

Today we acknowledge National Police Legacy Day, a day to honour the service and sacrifice of police members past and present, and to recognise the enduring strength of the families who carry their legacy forward. 💜

For more than five decades, Police Legacy organisations across Australia have stood beside our policing community, providing unwavering support through both loss and life’s milestones. Today is a reminder of the compassion, connection, and commitment that underpins that support.

We also recognise the vital role these organisations continue to play in ensuring no police family walks alone - today and every day. 🌼

Today is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

An important opportunity to come together and stand against the abuse, mistreatment and neglect of older people.

We all have a role to play in raising awareness about and preventing elder abuse.

So, what is elder abuse? We define elder abuse as any act by a trusted person or a family memberwhich causes harm to an older person.

The different types of elder abuse can include:
â—¼emotional and psychological abuse
â—¼financial abuse
â—¼neglect
â—¼social abuse
â—¼physical abuse
â—¼sexual abuse.

If you know or suspect on older person is being abused – do not ignore the signs and speak up, by making a report to police. Any information provided is crucial to help stop those causing abuse to older people.

In an emergency always call Triple Zero (000).

In non-urgent cases if you know or suspect an older person is being abused and prefer to make an anonymous report, you can do so online via Crime Stoppers Victoria: www.crimestoppersvic.com.au/report-a-crime
