UNIHACK is Australia’s largest student hackathon and this year we're inviting participants from across New Zealand and Australia. The event is open to students from TAFEs to PHDs across Australia and New Zealand and commences on the 25th of February 2022. Inspired by the student hackathons in the United States and Europe, UNIHACK was created in 2014 by WIRED Monash. Since the very first competitio

n , UNIHACK has quickly become one of the go-to hackathons for university students in Australia, with nearly 20 sponsors and over $20,000 in total prizes! The main purpose of UNIHACK is to showcase the best and talented students currently residing in our universities — the very people who will become the next generation of developers, thinkers, and start-up entrepreneurs. Teams have 48 hours to design and build something awesome. It can be anything - a website, a mobile application, a video game, or even something hardware. The important thing is that it needs to work when it is presented to the judges. Whether you are an avid programmer or a first-timer, UNIHACK welcomes all types of "hackers" regardless of skill level. So get your team together and come for the challenge!

New Zealand students can now take part in UNIHACK — Australia’s largest student hackathon, supported by the European Union. 💻💡

This 48-hour hybrid event brings together more than 500 students from across Australia and New Zealand to collaborate, learn new skills, and build creative digital projects.

Participants can join remotely from anywhere or take part in person at one of the university hubs. Working in teams, students develop their own ideas — from mobile apps and games to hardware projects — supported by mentors and workshops led by industry experts.

UNIHACK is open to all university and further education students. Whether you are just starting out or already building projects, it is an opportunity to experiment, collaborate and turn ideas into something real.
