Last Friday Ambulance Victoria Metro Fleet union members walked off the job for fair pay.

These essential workers keep ambulances on the road 24/7 so paramedics can save lives.

Without essential support staff like Fleet, Victorians have no emergency ambulance service.

It takes a team to save a life and it's time for Ambulance Victoria and Mary-Anne Thomas MP to value the people behind the scenes and pay them fairly.

Victorians expect their ambulance to arrive safe, stocked, and ready in an emergency. ๐Ÿš‘ โค๏ธ

Today, the workers who make that possible, Ambulance Victoria FMC, stopped work for fair pay and respect.

This action did not jeopodise patient safety.

FMC are skilled professionals who maintain over 500 emergency vehicles. They keep ambulances on the road, repaired quickly, and fully stocked with lifesaving equipment. ๐Ÿ˜ท๐Ÿ’‰๐Ÿฉบ

As UWU member Frank explains:
"If an ambulance breaks down with a patient inside, we fix it and get them to hospital."

๐Ÿšจ Ambulance Victoria and Mary-Anne Thomas MP, itโ€™s time to end the two-tier pay system and pay these essential workers what theyโ€™re worth.๐Ÿšจ

Every Victorian deserves to know that when they call Triple Zero, an ambulance will arrive safe, stocked, and ready.

But today, the workers who keep our ambulance fleet roadworthy are being forced to strike for fair pay and respect.

Ambulance Victoria Fleet Management Officers, the workers responsible for maintaining over 500 emergency vehicles, have walked off the job for 24 hours.

Theyโ€™re standing up to end the unfair two-tier pay structure inside Ambulance Victoria and to win an offer that reflects the skill, responsibility and essential nature of their work.

These workers are the reason every ambulance:
๐Ÿš‘ is roadworthy
๐Ÿš‘ is repaired quickly
๐Ÿš‘ is restocked with lifesaving equipment
๐Ÿš‘ gets paramedics and patients where they need to go safely

As UWU member Frank puts it:
โ€œWhen an ambulance breaks down with a patient in the back, we are the ones who fix it and get that patient safely to hospital. Without us, another ambulance comes off the road.โ€

Victorians rely on these workers every single day.

Today, they need Victoria to stand with them.

Behind every paramedic on the road providing Victoriaโ€™s lifesaving care is an Ambulance Victoria support staff member making sure this vital public service runs smoothly.

This industrial action is the first time the women and men who work behind the scenes of AV have taken industrial action.

AV support staff provide vital support to frontline staff, keeping ambulances serviced and on the roads, processing payments and providing admin support to keep the service running.

Without fair pay and real career progression, these critical roles risk becoming further understaffed and undervalued, creating pressures that flow directly through to frontline care.

It's time Mary-Anne Thomas MP and Jaclyn Symes address the two-tiered workforce that has been created inside Ambulance Victoria and put forward a pay offer with real career progression.

It takes a TEAM to save a life at Ambulance Victoria and Support Staff are a vital part of that team.

From the moment an emergency call comes in, to the moment a truck hits the road, Support Staff make sure Victoria has a functioning ambulance service. They keep the lights and sirens on.

But for too long, their wages have stagnated. Now, union members have been forced to take protected action to win the fair, respectful pay they deserve.

Jaclyn Symes it's time to recognise the essential work of Ambulance Victoria Support Staff and ensure they are paid with the respect theyโ€™ve earned.

Without Support Staff, AV Stops.

๐Ÿš‘ Our ambulance system doesnโ€™t run on paramedics alone.

Behind every crew is a team of 900 dedicated Support Staff. These are the people who keep the fleet on the road, keep AV funded and functioning, and ensure essential admin is moving every single day.

Right now, AV Support Staff are stretched to breaking point. Some are doing the work of three people just to keep the service running!

Itโ€™s time for proper funding, fair pay, and real recognition at Ambulance Victoria.

๐ŸŽฅ Hear from UWU members Frank and Celio about the critical fleet work they do and why standing together in their union matters. โœŠ

๐Ÿš‘ Hundreds of Support Staff across Ambulance Victoria are standing strong for respect and fair pay. ๐Ÿ’ชโœจ

After years of being undervalued, AV Support Staff are taking protected action to make sure their vital contributions are finally recognised. ๐Ÿ™Œ

๐Ÿ‘‹ Meet Paul and Steve from Metro Fleet Logistics.

Theyโ€™re part of a team of professionals who ensure 500+ emergency vehicles are stocked, operational, and ready to hit the road when Victorians need them most. ๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿ”ง๐Ÿงผ

๐Ÿšจ Support Ambulance Victoria Staff - Sign our Petition! ๐Ÿšจ

Behind every paramedic on the road are thousands of emergency support staff who keep Ambulance Victoria running; logistics, finance, administration, IT, HR, and more.

We are the invisible people who ensure Victoriaโ€™s ambulance service never stops.

But right now, the Victorian Government and Ambulance Victoria don't appreciate us.

๐Ÿ’” We have:

No proper salary progression structure

Been promised fixes - promises that were never delivered

No meaningful professional development

โš ๏ธ Under the current government wages policy, workers are told: If you want more than 3% - give something up.

That is unfair, especially when most AV support employees are women in lower-paid roles. We don't have anything to give up. The cost of living is crippling us.

We are simply asking for what every public sector worker deserves: fair progression, respect, and no loss of entitlements.

๐Ÿ›‘ Progression is not a privilege. Itโ€™s a right.
Without us, AV stops.
