Melaleuca Australia is a not-for-profit organisation based in Darwin NT.

We provide integrated specialist services to Humanitarian Entrants and Migrants, to achieve positive settlement outcomes and to realise their aspirations.

Over the past few weeks, we hosted community consultations at Melaleuca Australia, sitting down with members from our local Latin and Congolese communities.

These open discussions focused on policy changes and the real experiences, challenges, and hopes families are navigating around their children.

Gatherings like these provide an open, safe space for genuine dialogue, helping ensure that community voices and firsthand feedback directly inform government decision-makers for better, more supportive policy.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined the circle and shared their thoughts with us. When community voices guide the way, lasting change begins. 💚

We are incredibly proud to share this news. Our CEO Kwame Selormey has been elected as Vice President of the International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims - IRCT Executive Committee 2026 to 2029.

Based in Copenhagen-Denmark, The International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims is the world’s largest network dedicated to the rehabilitation of torture survivors and the advancement of human rights and justice globally. Serving over 170 Member centres in 80 countries including Australia’s 8 FASSTT agencies, the IRCT holds consultative Status with the United Nations.

To have Kwame represent the Pacific Region and serve at that level is a profound reflection of the values he brings to Melaleuca Australia every single day.

We congratulate Dr. Uju Agomoh on her election as President, and every member of the newly elected IRCT Council representing all seven global regions.

We look forward to watching this council shape the next three years of impact.

We watched newcomers, locals, organisations and businesses come together to connect, share information and explore the many supports available across the Territory.

Bringing the world to one table right here in Darwin: more than two hundred people gathered under the courtyard lights, sharing stories and plates filled with flavours from across the globe.

Watching these Friday pop-ups grow into a space where 200+ people, 7 global cuisines and communities from every corner of Darwin come together has been incredible. From Ethiopian feasts and Venezuelan pop-ups with Lady Arepa to Malaysian, Burmese, and Middle Eastern nights, seeing our space filled with laughter and belonging fills our hearts.

Thank you to everyone who comes through our gates on Cavenagh Street to make these nights work. You are the heart of Mela Kulcha, and there is always a seat at the table waiting for you. 💚

Yesterday morning, we had the pleasure of bringing together our existing volunteers and community members interested in joining our team for a special morning tea.

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with our staff, learn more about the work happening across Melaleuca, and explore the many ways volunteers make a difference in our community.

To our current volunteers, thank you for the time, skills, and dedication you so generously contribute. Your support is greatly valued and plays an important role in the work we do.
