Last week Australia held its Census.

With our clients and community made up of migrants, new settlers and refugees, Melaleuca organised two full-day sessions where families, community members and individuals could come in, sit down and complete their Census forms — and make sure they are counted.

This comes at a time when policy, funding and planning increasingly need real visibility into multicultural communities. Census data decides where money goes, where services get built and how communities are represented for the next five years. Being counted is how need becomes visible.

We really appreciate all the community leaders, organisations and family members who came together and made this happen. Over 100 people came through our doors, across 11 languages. We couldn't be prouder of this community for showing up and making sure it is seen.

A milestone worth looking back on.💚

In February 2025, the Northern Territory welcomed its very first fully-fledged refugee legal service, right here at Melaleuca Australia in Darwin.

Refugee Legal provides free legal assistance with migration matters, complementing Melaleuca's trauma counselling, settlement support and family services - all under one roof!

This milestone was years in the making. Everyone deserves access to legal support, no matter where they call home.

We are glad this community now has that. 💚
